Andy Griffith Sang "Get On Home" before The Manson Family

Andy Griffith sang this song in 1960, called Get On Home.  The Manson Family blatantly stole it later on in 1968.

Manson & his followers didn't just kill folks, steal drugs, money and children.  They also stole songs!!!

  1. Quite the similarities between Ernest T. Bass and the Wooly Hophead, as well…

  2. The Manson Family didn't have a banjo player. You'd think they could come up with one. I guess banjo players have standards! LOL.

  3. I wonder if Andy Griffith was a popular tv show in prison? Where else would Manson hear this song, unless Paul Watkins or someone in else in the Family wrote/stole it?

  4. I thought Manson wrote all of those stupid songs they sang. If Manson was watching Andy Griffith in stir then that's where he probably stole it.

  5. Hi guys,
Somehow, I missed this post when it was active. After noticing it, I listened to "Get on Home Cindy, Cindy", sung by Andy Griffith and "Get on Home" sung by some of the Manson family. I'm practically tune deaf and have to ask, are the songs sung to the same tune? As for lyrics the only similarities I caught were the phrase "Get on Home". If I'm off base on this please point out where.because I think they're two different songs.

  6. ORWHUT!!! Good to see you!!!!!

These songs are the same cadence, the same beat, the only thing that changed other than Get On Home is some verbiage in order to make it look different.

This is definitely a stolen song!

  7. Cindy, Cindy is an old folk song. Ricky Nelson does a good version in Rio Bravo.
I hate how much I like the Manson version.

Ha, Katie, Yeah no banjo players here. These bozos were better suited to play the triangle.
