Okay let's get back to the case. Leslie Van Houten had no bidness in Manson's camp. She was a high school princess who "got knocked up and had to get an abortion" because her mama said. According to her. Which, according to her, messed up her life.
ReplyDeleteAnd that lead her to killing Rosemary Labianca? A woman she didn't even know?
I think that Leslie makes me sicker than any other of the perps, except for Tex. Susan lost her family, Pat was uglier than home-made mud, Linda was just insane, but Leslie had it made in high school and should have just gone on to get a job afterwards, but she blames it all on Manson's influence on her.
Maybe if Leslie took some responsibility and lived with it, people would believe her. I think Pat has given up on getting out. Which is how it should be. Tex too.
Katie, it's been a long time since anyone could consider Van Houten a princess. She is certainly not treated like a princess now. Personally, I would let her out, if it takes a judge over ruling the governor so be it. I would also let Krenwinkel out, she has more remorse than all the other's put together. She'll never get out though because she participated both nights.
ReplyDeleteBeauders, I guess I can't let go of the fact that Leslie, Pat and Susan laughed and mocked the victims during the trial.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Leslie, even though she "claims" she was hesitant to stab Rosemary, she was more than willing to rifle through Rosemary's closet and steal her clothing. She also was "ripe" to raid the fridge, eating cheese and chocolate milk. She was willing to "flirt" with a guy on the strip and catch a ride back to the ranch. She burned Rosemary's clothing at the ranch. She married a guy to escape from prison. And her testimony has gone from indifference to "sorrowful begging" to get out.
I think she's an actress, she doesn't feel bad about Rosemary being killed, she just cares that she got caught and convicted.
She was lucky she got out for a while because her conviction was overturned because her attorney got "dead" and she was free for a while, but when she went back into prison she didn't like that at all.
Well too bad.
As I said before, she was a pretty girl. She could have done a lot better than joining up with the Manson Family. She could have had a nice career and life. If her whole point was to "punish her parents", then she bit her own leg off to escape.
It's too late to save the dead. Can we still save the living?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Katie, that Van Houten could have done a lot better than joining the Manson Family. I think she was in trouble before joining the Family though, as I have heard rumors that she was a member of The Process or a Process splinter group in the Santa Cruz Mountains south of San Francisco. Has anyone else heard this?
ReplyDeleteGood point Beauders. I would have to research that as I can't recall it, but I do recall that she met Bobby B. (can't ever spell his last name) somewhere when he was doing his sorry ass act in that demonic play around San Francisco and I think he had a BIG influence on her.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what that was except for the fact the he was so good looking he was monikered "Cupid", and I'm sure he had an effect on her lower erogenous zones (as Amy on Big Bang would say), LOL.
I think the Family had relations with The Process before Leslie joined the group. Sorry I haven't really thought about this case in a long time, so I've forgotten probably more than I knew.
Everyone join in!!!
Starviego, good to see you again!!!
ReplyDeleteKatie I named my cat Cupid because that boy was handsome. I named his sister because she was a Calico with Tabby stripes and it fit. I thought Beausoliel met Van Houten when the Family bus broke down in the Bay Area.
ReplyDeleteGypsy was a Calico with Tabby stripes.
ReplyDeleteKatie do you realize that Van Houten is still in prison because she was convicted of felony murder. That is she committed two crimes that night murder and theft. If she was only convicted of murder she would have probably been released on time served after her third trial. That Stephen Kay was very clever doing that.
ReplyDeleteI can guarantee that the Felony Murder rule was not at the top of the strategy list when the retrial came about. However, I agree that using robbery as an underlying crime certainly qualified for Felony Murder, and was a good call. As far as whether that is the reason that LVH is still rightfully wear she belongs, is possible, given the sentencing guidelines, as well as parole guidelines, at the time.

Dill that new DA in LA County Gascon is letting folks go left and right. I guess his reach is beyond people convicted in 1970'ish. What are your thoughts on that?
ReplyDeleteBeauders, I think that Van Houten was convicted fairly. She even got more than one trial. Maybe I'm biased, but I think that the Manson Family murderers should just remain in prison for the rest of their lives.
ReplyDeleteThe concept of just killing people because "someone told you to" is something that my mind can't compute. Leslie was more than willing to go on a "killing spree" the next night. She knew exactly what was happening. And she actually ASKED to go.
As far as the "felony", she willingly rifled thru Rosemary's closet, squealing with delight over her "cute clothes", and stealing them while her victim lay on the floor "breathing her last".
You just don't do that!
P.S. Beauders, Liam makes me SICK!! What a scumbag !@#$%*&*%+*(&)*^%$, which is covert hieroglyphics for GRRRRRR!!!! LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe new Los Angeles District Attorney previously held that position in San Francisco. Look how great that city is today, what could possibly go wrong. Former colleagues of mine in LA have already shared stories of the groundswell of resentment, and rebellion, that is forming within current staff. This should be interesting as it is a good time to be a criminal in Los Angeles...
ReplyDeleteYes, Katie, Liam is a jerk and how many times do we need to watch these three mess up.
ReplyDeleteIf I have to see Liam grimace and hang his head every time Hope goes on and on about how he has so much "character", I'm gonna throw something at the TV. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI think Brook, Shawna and Flo have recently had boob jobs. Just sayin'.
Dill I saw on the news that lots of folks are complaining about the new DA's tactics and are trying to get rid of him. I guess we'll see what happens.
ReplyDeleteKatie, I didn’t notice the boob jobs I’ll look next week. I couldn’t help but notice Thomas’s pimply nose.
ReplyDeleteI KNOW! I hate that stupid hat on his head which accentuates his beady eyes and his scraggly beard. Have you noticed that every time someone is in the hospital, i.e., Steffy, Thomas, Ridge, Eric, et al, it's the same hospital room with the same waiting room? B&B must only have 3 or 4 sets. And the hospital room always has some machine prop with beeping lights. Who knows what that's for.
ReplyDeleteBrook and Shawna are too old for boob jobs. Especially Shawna. She just looks waxy and fake.
Off topic comment:
ReplyDeleteIn about 1978 Hollywood made a movie called "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". I was in about 11th grade, an usher in a theater and we got that movie. I put the letters up on the marquis and the cute girls that worked in the theater came out, looked up, and started laughing at me like I was some kind of dumb ass because I'd spelled it wrong. I had to get the ladder back out, climb up in my little monkey suit, and change it.
The Beatles had broken up by then, Hollywood had begged them to get back together to do the movie, offered them lots of money, but they wouldn't do it. It was made anyway with a number of other musical stars of the time, the Bee Gee's, Peter Frampton, Earth, Wind and Fire, Steve Mertin, etc. We ran that movie twice a day, 3 times on weekends, I remember going into the theater each time the Aerosmith version of "Come Together" came on. I got into an argument with a ticket girl because she wanted to go in the theater, so I let her ONE TIME. We couldn't both be in the theater at the same time, someone might steal the place. Here's the clip--Come Together
Anyway, fast forward to now. Apparently, there is going to be a "new" documentary movie coming out in 2021 about the Beatles. I just happened to see the trailer for it. The top comment on the YouTube vid was a little emoji doo dad posted by some guy with the YouTube user name "Paul McCartney". Here's a link to the trailer--Get Back
Thanks Sunset. Good footage of the Beatles back then. Yoko Ono was a big reason they broke up, and you can see that she's right in the middle of it.
ReplyDeleteI think they recorded "Get Back" in 1969. That's just about when they were on the verge of breaking up. I bought Paul McCartney's new album in 1970. I think it was called "McCartney" and his new band was called "Wings".
BTW I still have that LP. I think it's worth around $400 now.
I'm not exactly sure what happened there, I thought the Beatles didn't break up until 1972. However, I've been looking on Wikipedia, Apparently, McCartney released a solo album in 1970 called "McCartney". It says it was mostly a solo album except for occasional contributions by his wife Linda. I think I remember that "Wings" album you are talking about it, (or at least I remember one Wings album). The one that just said "Wings" on the front, or maybe "Wings At the Speed of Sound".
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the song from Wings I remember most is a song with a bass line I really liked, I bought the sheet music and memorized it. I played bass in the jazz band in college, the only reason they let me in was because I had a good amplifier, (it sure wasn't because I knew how to play bass guitar). Once we were practicing in the auditorium, the only person in the seats was a guy with a doctorate in music. After the first song he stood up and yelled "I didn't hear one right bass note that whole song". The song was "Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue". The girl singer was a music major, she had written the music down by hand, it looked like chicken scratch. We should have been playing the one I had memorized--Goodnight Tonight
I read on the other blog that Van Houten has Covid 19 and was taken to an outside hospital and now is back at the prison. Katie I bet you liked the Thomas before this one better. This one does have beady eyes.
ReplyDeleteYeah but I like the way every Thomas is so buff that he has to run around 90% of the time without a shirt! LOL.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, Finn had his shirt off. Hoo Hoo!!!
ReplyDeleteKatie you and your young men. The protesters are back they tore up downtown last night. The mayor are calling them anarchists and not Portland citizens. He’s finally got a burr under his butt and claims he will not put up with this any longer.
ReplyDeleteOh Beauders I'm so glad somebody grew some hefty BALLS in Portland! This burning down cities in the name of "peaceful protests" is getting really old!
ReplyDeleteYeah I like looking at young bucks. It's one of the perks of old folks! HA HA!
Yesterday Steffie revealed she's preggers. Well, she slept with several folks so WTF?
Hey Beauders. What do you think about Leslie Van Skankston's attorney Ronald Hughes dying during her first trial? Do you think the "Family" offed him, or did he just die of "natural causes"?
Let's get back on the subject matter! :)
His death resulted in her getting out of the slammer awaiting a new trial. That sounds like a Manson deal....
And while we're on the subject, what do you think about Manson in general. A cheesy "cult leader" or a scumbag trying to make a living in CA by making threats to "music makers".
I think Ron Hughes probably died accidentally. He was a big guy and probably not too graceful. The storms in California are very deadly. When I lived in Northern California we had a storm that took out our electricity for 2 weeks. I believe that was the same storm my neighbor, Anna Waters, disappeared. If you read up on Anna, she disappeared during a storm that rose the creek she lived near and some people thought she fell into the creek and drowned. They never found anything that led to that including big Wellington Boots that she was wearing, that were oversized and would have come off as water filled them. I think Manson was both. He had all the characteristics of a cult leader he separated them from their family and friends. He didn’t feed them well and they slept sporadically. The gobbledegook he was telling them was brainwashing in nature and I believe the women were true believers. Manson was also a bully growing up in prison and when the music makers rejected him he reacted violently.
DeleteAlso the strange thing about the mayor is the same mayor that allowed rioting downtown for over a 100 days. Maybe he was scared he would not be re-elected.
DeleteThanks Beauders! I've heard debates back and forth about Ronald Hughes. I think that you're right about him being washed away in a storm, although it seems really convenient that he just disappears during, what I call, the Trial of the Century!
ReplyDeleteAgreed on Manson. He was definitely a cult leader. Cult leaders by definition separate potential members from family, from identity, making sure they only ingest what he wanted them to eat, etc. But I think he was also suffering from thinking he was some kind of "rock star" and banking on influencing the rock stars of the time that he had some kind of talent.
And I used that word loosely! "Talent". I know there are people who think Manson had musical talent, but when I hear his feeble grabs at harmony and you hear this gravely untrained voice, basically saying the same lyrics over and over and over again because he can't think of any other words trying to overcome some kind of gravel pit at a hot dog stand and it's just sad because it's more than pathetic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpx4ODP35VQ
Also Beauders, do you believe Sadie when she claims that there are lots of people buried in the desert? Or is that her bragging as usual?
Finally, I think Manson dragged this crap out until the end. I think he knew a lot of things that he never revealed.
Also, those politicians are ALL THE SAME! Democratic or Republican? They only care about the money, which results in being re-elected! They don't care about safety unless it affects their own safety.
It's all about money! Because money talks!
p.s. my dog has PTSD from the fireworks. I finally turned the thermostat up to 78 degrees because I'm tired of being cold.
This is probably TMI.
I'm going to throw one more log on the fire, which brings the temp up in my house to 80 degrees. I'm TIRED of being cold!
ReplyDeleteI know that's probably too hot, but you have to take a stand!
I bitch about it being hot, but I really HATE being cold!
Okay I won't say anything else.....starting NOW! LOL. Night y'all!
ReplyDeleteWith the information coming from Sadie it would be interesting but I would need to hear it from reputable like Watkins or Posten before I would start digging. Stay warm Katie.
ReplyDeletePS that’s a big desert and so someone would have to say where to dig.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Paul Dostie take his cadaver dog out there a few years ago and he said he "hit" on some spots but they didn't really find anything. But they only looked around the Barker Ranch. Maybe there are some bodies further out. But, I'm with you, I wouldn't base that just on Susan's word. Most of what she said was just bragging to look tough.
ReplyDeleteKatie, did you know that the Heaven’s Gate cult began in Texas and eventually ended up on the Oregon coast.
ReplyDeleteNo I didn't know that Beauders. If it began in Texas, it had to be either Houston or Austin. Those were the only liberal cities in Texas. Actually if this was back in the 70's I would target Austin more than any other city. Austin has always been liberal. We called it "Hippy Hollow".
ReplyDeleteYes I’ve been told Austin is the only city in Texas I should go to. White Rabbit, the Manson Family hanger on used to live there. I wonder if that fool is still alive. I know he was on permanent disability because of his association with the Family.
DeleteThey started in Texas but moved around a lot ending up at the Oregon coast and becoming a cult. I think they are interesting but I am more interested in the Unarius Society in Los Angeles. Unarius is a cult that believes in past lives and UFO stuff. They are very dramatic and record what they do.
ReplyDeleteI looked it up and they did meet in Houston.
ReplyDeleteOh Beauders! I could do a lot with the word "Unarius". LOL. But I won't.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice evening darlin'! I'm heading to bed early this evening. Big day tomorrow!
It's not nearly as cold tonight! Plus I guess the losers ran out of firecrackers! We'll talk more tomorrow!
Beauders are you thinking of moving to Texas?
ReplyDeleteMy sister is talking about moving her business to Dallas. If she does that I will probably move too.
ReplyDeleteWhat's her business? Why Dallas?
ReplyDeleteLiam was so predictably loser today.
We are a long line of candy makers starting with salt water taffy then leading to all the other goodies. I was a candy maker for 23 years but my knees cannot take the stress anymore.
ReplyDeleteMy sister is conservative and hates Oregon. I think she feels Texas is the complete opposite of Oregon and she likes Dallas and a close friend lives there now.
ReplyDeleteWaco looked like a pretty nice area to live when I visited it in May. People seemed pretty friendly.
ReplyDeleteKatie, is your site down?
Does Liam not know that even ifHope did kiss Thomas, which of course she did not, sleeping with Stephie is just so much worse. Does he not understand that this is no one else’s fault just he and Stephie’s.
ReplyDeleteDill I'm going to e-mail you and explain. I also would like your advice on something. I'll do that sometime this weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeauders I don't think Liam thinks at all. Why didn't he wait until the paternity test was done to start all of this nonsense? My prediction is that Hope and Finn will console each other and become a couple. Ahhh, the nonsense of soap-box operas!! LOL.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like Texas if you move here. I think it's the best state in the Union, but of course I'm prejudiced.
I don’t think it will happen as a lot of the business is based on being made in Oregon. The Oregon coast has hundreds of little candy stores and most emphasize salt water taffy. If I could live anywhere I would love to go back to the California coast. Half Moon Bay is my real home. It never gets too hot, there is no humidity and it never gets too cold either. I’ll probably only get back there when I die as it is so expensive.
ReplyDeleteKatie I guess Liam and Stephie don’t know what contraception is.
ReplyDeleteIf Stephie wants Finn to forgive her, she needs to take the picture of her and Liam first.
ReplyDeleteDown
ReplyDeleteWow Hope brought up the picture. I guess I am psychic.
ReplyDeleteBeauders you would think Finn would know about contraception since he's a "doctor". LOL. I'm predicting the baby will turn out to be Liam's but Liam and Steffy will try and hide it and eventually Finn will find out since he's a "doctor".
ReplyDeleteHey Venus, check your e-mail!!! Thanks Darlin'!!
ReplyDeleteKatie I am so happy that Finn told off Liam. It appears that Liam thinks seeing what he thought was Hope kissing Thomas is equivalent to him sleeping with Stephie. I like Stephie and hope she never ends up with Liam, but eventually they will get together again. Hope needs someone to take care of her, so let it be Liam.
ReplyDeleteI think Hope will end up with Finn or Thomas. At least for a while.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why they just keep talking about who the baby's father is, and who Steffy wants it to be, blah, blah, blah. Just go down and get the friggin' paternity test!!! LOL.
Katie, something terrible has happened my brother was found dead on Saturday morning. He was having an issue with his heart and apparently had a heart attack. It is still very shocking. I lost my oldest brother 23 years ago and now this.
ReplyDeleteOh man, condolences to you and your family....
ReplyDeleteOh Beauders, I'm so sorry! My words can't console you. I can only tell you how sorry I am for your loss. And that means nothing. I only hope that our connection will help you get through this.
ReplyDeleteStay strong! Love you!!!
I'm going to contact Lynyrd!
ReplyDeleteHi Beauders,
ReplyDeletePlease accept my deepest sympathies on your brother's passing.
I'm so sorry for your loss.
Katie phoned me last night with the news. I wanted to respond sooner, but shortly after our conversation, my electricity went out. My apologies for the delay.
My Best Regards Always,
Lynyrd
Thanks everyone I'm ok just very sad.
ReplyDeleteI know you're sad Beauders. God Bless. If it makes any difference, Liam is still just a whiney-butt saying he's sorry to Hope a billion times. You would think that actor would grow a pair and tell the writers he's sick of this story line. But maybe he doesn't have a pair.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I asked Venus if she had a link to the Jay Documentary that was free of charge and she didn't know of any.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone out there have a link that is free of charge that I can post on this blog? Much appreciated if you do.
Buenos Noches ya'll!
Katie, Liam does have a pair remember he keeps getting women pregnant.
ReplyDeleteHA HA!. Maybe he's shooting blanks! LOL.
ReplyDeleteOkay Venus told me that the Jay Sebring documentary is showing on Tubi. I found it but I can't figure out how to embed the code to put it on this blog. I've e-mailed Lynyrd to see if he can do it.
I've watched about half of it now and it's really good!
I think I found the the film "Jay Sebring-Cutting to the Truth" on Tubi TV, I had to disable my ad blocker to get it to play, but I think this is the correct one, it plays for me, although I don't know if it will play for every one--Jay Sebring--Cutting to the Truth
ReplyDeleteMen's hair cutting always reminds me of song by "The Kinks" I used to listen to in college--"Permanent Waves"
Finally, I watched a TV show about abandoned places last night. They showed this religious temple in India. It was a bizarre looking place with a number of one person stone structures for meditation. In one room there was a picture of the "swami" painted on the wall, flanking him one either side were the Beatles in their Sgt. Pepper uniforms. Apparently, that's were the Beatles were in 1968. It said Mike Love of "The Beach Boys" and Mia Farrow were there with them. It said John Lennon was with his wife Cynthia but he would walk to the post office expecting telegrams from Yoko Ono. It said a number of songs from the "White Album" were written there. I can barely remember some of that "guru" stuff from back in the late 60's, but I don't know much about it. I'll have to look that place up.
Sharon Tate named her dog Prudence after Mia Farrow’s sister and the Beatles song “Dear Prudence” was written about her having a hard time in India after a break up.
DeleteThanks Sunset!
ReplyDeleteHey Beauders, check out the new thread. Have you seen the Jay Sebring documentary? I'd like to know you thoughts!
ReplyDelete
