I recently e-mailed Venus & Carol (the 2 who know more about Jay Sebring than most anyone in the TLB group) about the Jay Sebring documentary, and Venus replied and let me know that she heard about the progress of the documentary "directly from Anthony DiMaria!!!" Thanks Venus!!!
Here is what Anthony said:
"As it stands the Jay Sebring doc is
in post production as a 100 minute solid rough cut. Some film processing still
yet to be done from original 16mm footage, licensing/permission, music and
final polishing. I will have something to present to distributors 3-6
months.
The completion of this project has taken so long for several reasons.... We
have been working on our own time and on limited resources, and acquiring all
resources regarding Jay's life, death and legacy has been extensive and
required the necessary amount of time.
Interviewees include Robert Wagner, Nancy Sinatra, Dennis Hopper, Paul Anka,
Vic Damone, Andy Williams, Quincy Jones, Vidal Sassoon, Fred Segal, Stuart
Whitman, Joe Torrenueva, Charles Champlin, David Milch, Barbara Luna, Amos
Russell, Debra Tate, Sheilah Wells, Max Baer Jr., LA DAs Stephen Kay and
Patrick Sequeira, Dr. Michael Baden and members of Jay's family and several
others."
Author's Note: Thanks so much Venus for your research and valuable input on this thread! And thanks Anthony for your update on the documentary! I think that people focus too much on certain things about Jay Sebring that, if he had not been savagely killed by a knuckle-dragging cretin, would never have surfaced.
My impression of Jay is that he was a shy, serious minded, soft spoken man who loved adventure and had the heart of a Lion when it came to the things he loved. He loved his craft with his whole heart. He loved making people happy by sculpting them into what they wanted to be. I think he probably loved that craft more than most anything. He had a gift!
And he seemed to love Sharon Tate. He breathed his last breath trying to protect her.
I will just say that when the news came on the TV on August 9th, 1969, about the vicious murders in Benedict Canyon, that the only reason my ears perked up was because they said that Jay Sebring was one of the victims. I had never heard of any of the other victims, including Sharon Tate. Nothing against the other victims, but I was only interested in this case initially because of Jay Sebring.
The Sebring haircut was not only a domestic success, but was bordering on international success. That haircut was very popular where I lived, and I can remember the boys talking about the new look that he designed.
Jay liked having fun. Whether it was in a race car, doing a segment on Batman, or just doing a documentary on how to cut hair, he liked having fun. He liked instructing, he liked learning, and he liked his life. His product line was going international. He was going to open a salon in San Francisco. He had everything going for him.
Jay was a slight man, but a good looking man. He was stylish and mod in his appearance. But does anyone realize how highly regarded he was in Hollywood in 1969? He was well acquainted with "movie stars" at the time, having their trust in cutting their tresses and giving each one a distinctive look.
Jay was partially responsible for getting Bruce Lee a job on The Green Hornet.
Jay Sebring did have certain faults (who doesn't???) but I hope everyone remembers Jay as a good-hearted, good looking, classy guy, who had a heart of gold! I think that we can perhaps finally remember him by his last act in life, that he would give his life for a fellow human being. And what more can you ask of someone?

Well maybe I'm exaggerating, but I'd really love to see the inside of that house....
I remember back in 1982 I was in CA and my brother-in-law was driving us around LA, and I said "can we drive by a "Manson Family victim's home"? And he said "MANSON? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We're going to Disneyland, the Happiest Place on Earth".
I said "okay". LOL.
I'll say one more thing. I went to a friend's brother who was a "super" barber back in 1989, and he studied under the Jay Sebring haircut design.
He measured my skull, did angles left and right, and cut my hair based on his calculations, and he gave me the best haircut I've ever had.

I think it's sweet that Jay, who had a reputation as a ladies' man, was so devoted to one woman, Sharon. He was married to Cami, of course, and they remained friends. But I don't recall him being involved with any other Hollywood starlets, aside from Sharon. Thank you, Katie, for saying that I knew a lot about Jay, but I have more questions than knowledge. What was Jay's childhood like? His family? His ethnicity (he looks Italian or Spanish but his surname - Kummer - is German)? Who were his other romantic partners besides Cami and Sharon?
Since Sharon was the most famous of the TLB victims, the other victims often got relegated to "and others" status. I love the part in the documentary where a man said of Jay, "He wasn't 'and others,' he was my friend." Venus, do you know whose voice that was?

The Italian justice system at work.
Here we have a juror who reinstated Knox and Socelito's murder conviction saying she now doubts the evidence was accurate. So another words here we have a juror who did her thinking AFTER the verdict. She now believes both Knox and Socelito are innocent.
This is the most well known case in the world where innocent people ended up convicted of murder.
Italy will ask for extradition if Knox is convicted again.
The US may end up denying the request because of double jeopardy and a wrong verdict.
Amanda helped convict herself by acting weird in front of cops during the investigation. The problem with using weird behavior to convict someone is that you quite frequently end up WRONG.
Never the less, Italy is determined to keep looking like a bunch of fools.
Carol, I'll have to listen to it again to see if I can identify the voice. People seem to forget that they had loved ones/friends who still miss them and always will.

We've all watched the funerals of Jay & Sharon, with people approaching the church, then leaving the church, and of course there is no audio, which makes it somewhat eerie, but I was just thinking that those people attending the funerals must have been in great shock. It's one thing to lose a good friend suddenly like in a car wreck, but to lose a good friend in some kind of freaky horrible murder must have been really hard.
And Carol, I agree, I have never liked the "and others" comments by newscasters. Granted, they can't name them all every single time they gave news segments on this crime because the Manson Family decided to slaughter lots of people, but it is dis-heartening to hear a beloved friend described as "other" instead of by their name(s). All of the victims were people, with lives, and should be regarded as such.
We should change this from "TLB" to "HTSFFPLB" Case. I guess LB means La Bianca?
I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again.
You have to go back in time (if you're not old enough) to remember that when these murders occurred, nobody had ANY IDEA who killed these people. That's what made is so scary. All of Hollywood was petrified, and with good reason. The news media was going crazy with all kinds of stories about drug parties, devil cults, the media was crucifying the victims, left and right, which led to widespread terror.
But when we finally found out in December of 1969 that some hippy cult did it because of their deranged cult leader, we were still aghast but a little relieved.
I remember after the murders that the drive-ins in my town started showing Sharon Tate films. My friends and I went to see the Fearless Vampire Killers because we were curious who she was.
That was the dumbest movie I've ever seen. And she had red hair, so we didn't get it. We left half-way into the movie and took the speaker. LOL.

The comments about "and others" reminded me of the Goldman family speaking about how hurtful it was to hear the media frequently refer to the murder of their son and brother, Ron Goldman, as "the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend" or "friend who worked as a waiter" etc etc. Kim Goldman said they chose 'His Name is Ron' as the title of their book about his life and murder because he was a human being with a soul and a heart, and should be remembered by his name.
Poirot, So you don't find the timing of this juror's comments, and where the comments were made, just a tad suspicious?

That's your entitled opinion, but in my opinion, your opinions, while entertaining, aren't always backed up with factual information. soit makes what you say interesting to ponder I guess...so maybe it's so and maybe it isn't....
And I'm not sure killer AK is a victim of double jeopardy. We'll just have to see the final response when its all over. But over and over again, if we're inclined to listen, we have the benefit of legal experts explaining U.S. double jeopardy as being that a person can't be tried again for the same offense (the same case) after having already been tried and acquitted for that offense (the same case.) But remember, also in our legal system, an appeals court can overturn a conviction and order a new trial, without the new trial being considered double jeopardy.
Basically, without all the gory details, Knox was convicted after a trial. An appeals court threw out the conviction based on "allegedly tainted DNA". Key word allegedly. The prosecution then appealed that decision, as was their right, to Italy's highest appeals court. As a result, the high appeals court ordered a new hearing....for this same case. Amanda Knox was not acquitted at trial, released, and whatever length of time later, re-arrested and charged again with the same crime...double jeopardy.
But we'll just have to see how it plays out.
There is a lot more evidence than just her "weird behavior."
I think they both should have told the truth and fast tracked the proceedings so they'd have a chance to put prison behind them while still fairly young, as Guede has and will have done, but I think they're both liars, who have ruined, if not destroyed, many, many lives.
Personally, if he's innocent, I wonder why Sollecito didn't testify on his own behalf, and also have to wonder if he'll take off again pretty soon, even without his passport.
I think it's naiive to believe the United States won't extradite Amanda Knox f she's found guilty of murder with all appeals concluded. Based on the circumstances of Meredith Kercher's violent killing, Knox's psych evaluations, and the fact that she iwill be a convicted felon (which she may already be) she could easily considered dangerous for life in free society.

Thanks Marliese. Yeah it would suck to be killed along with a "famous person" and get disregarded like yesterday's news. Although I don't know if I would call Nicole Simpson famous. I think she became "infamous" when she was killed.
That guy was just returning sunglasses, or so he said. But who cares? They were both single, so they weren't doing anything wrong. But Nicole knew her ex-hubby was a jealous bitch, so maybe she should have moved MILES away from OJ, or just had rendezvous's with guys in cheap hotels instead of in her Brentwood palace that OJ was paying for....
The guy I feel most sorry for as a "no name" was Steve Parent.
When that friend of Roman's came by and identified the bodies, he just said "I dont know who he is" when looking at Parent.
In fact, the poor guy hunked over in the passenger seat and baking in the sun in his car and was just toe-tagged "John Doe" and thrown in the meat wagon for later. The police didn't even run the plates to see who he was. Everyone else was more important.
He was just there at the wrong time to sell a clock/radio....

Nce little interview with murderer Pam Smart who wants her life without parole sentence reduced after hearing the trigger men will all be out by June and she will be left behind to die in prison of old age.
I think Pam is a control freak and CFs never admit wrong doing. They'd rather die than admit. Her OCD may force her to die in prison decades from now. If she had admitted guilt while the murdered hubbys father was alive she may have stood a chance at sentence reduction but he died. The father agreed to parole for the main trigger man after he apologized and asked forgivness.
The now deceased father was her only chance at freedom but she couldn't admit to planning the murder.
Pam Smart definately planned her newlywed husbands murder.
It was a rough newlywed year for both Pam and her newlywed husband because they both cheated on each other. It definately was a marriage that should never have taken place.

I don't like seeing that crime scene photo of him in the car. It's no worse than the photos of the other victims, but somehow, that one is always around, like it's the photo album cover for those two nights of murder.
