Leslie Van Houten's 1999 Parole Hearing

It's the first time that any family members were present to plead for no parole.  Angela Smaldino is present this time.  The video is dark until about 1:06.  Sorry about that.  Camera fluke.

But poor Leslie.  She's a victim.  She's afraid that Bill Nelson is making money off her parole hearings and she's not.

Quotes Leslie:
"I feel that this has gotten a little out of hand and I believe that there is really no reason for the camera to be important when it seems somehow gotten to sold for profit. And I believe that the internet has become a place where there's a  lot of exploiting violence.  And this man has a shopping list, and I’m part of that shopping list.  And if you allow the camera in here, then I'm partaking that, and I can’t do that."

WOW!  Pinch me!  Am I dreaming?  Or did a woman who chased down and stabbed a complete stranger 16 times in the back, stole her clothes, ate her food, petted her dogs and wiped down prints say she can't be a part of "exploiting violence"?  HA HA.

So she takes time in her parole hearing to throw a hissy fit.  Then the icy High School Princess walks.  Way to go Leslie.  You showed them who you really are!!!

Leslie threw a shit fit because Angela was there and she was buying more time.

It's funny how the black guy kept opening the door for that haughty bitch. I guess he didn't hear about the race war stuff. Well, he was just doing his job.

She didn't even say thank you. Pure Leslie.

I think Leslie's hissy fit at that hearing was a big mistake on her part as it showed her trying to control the proceedings and get her way. I saw this tape years ago when Leslie heard Smaldino showed up. Her eyes got real big. All of these inmates seem blown away that relatives keep showing up. The killers seem blown away that the people they killed were loved by others who keep showing up and keep loving their deceased relative. This uncovers the killers sociopathy. These killers never bonded with loved ones and chose instead to join a hippie cult at a dusty dirty ranch on the side of a lonely highway in the desert. Because they were all sociopaths they couldn't bond with relatives like normal people do.

Whether or not Leslie is in the wrong for her complaint, Bill Nelson was a pile of dung. That asshole exploited everyone he could find, grubbed all of the documents he could get his fat fingers on, all of the footage he could weasel out of people, promise good intentions and "it's for research" and then throw them on his website for 30 cents a page, $25 videos, the whole enchilada.

Leslie's wrong doesn't all of a sudden make it for that asshole to snake her like this, and she is right - he was planning on making some money off of her.

This does not uncover her sociopathy. Give me a break. Leslie is entitled to a fair and unbiased parole hearing (fair and unbiased on both sides) and this does not include a private camera from some fat wannabe sheister masquerading as a journalist.

And what happened after the fact? That bastard threw it on his site! He didn't give a damn about anything else - not the victims, not the victims' family, not the "public's right to see this', nothing but the prospect of making money on it.

Of course she didn't make herself look good by this, but it really doesn't change how Bill Nelson used these people and their crimes for profit.

katie8753 said...

Mr. P it was a huge mistake on her part. These killers are always looking at leverage and "how they present themselves" at parole hearings. If one thing doesn't work, they try another tactic. Whatever attorney they have du jour advises them, just like Jackie Chiles.

It's hilarious that Leslie's "new" attorney would think these Tex tapes would somehow procure her release.

He's gotta be kidding!!!

CT, Leslie was trying to grandstand at the hearing by using Bill Nelson as a Straw Dog to direct attention away from Smaldino and onto Nelson.
None of the board even knew who Bill Nelson was.
The reason Leslie aborted her hearing can be seen in the original video. It wasn't Nelson who Leslie feared but Smaldino.
As I stated earlier Leslie's eyes nearly bugged out her head when she heard the word "Smaldino". This was during the time the video was black. leslie immediately changed the subject away from herself and onto Nelson to disguise her fear of Smaldino being allowed to speak on behalf of the Labianca family. Leslie knew instantly she had zero chance of getting parole if a Labianca relative spoke. Leslie fears the Labiancas for good reason.

Leslie claims that the reason she took clothes from Rosemary's closet was because Tex's jeans were bloody and he wanted to wear her jeans, so she gave Tex her jeans and she took Rosemary's clothes.

Okay, a 6'ish man weighing around 165 pounds can fit into the jeans of a 5'4" or 5'5" woman who weighs around 120 pounds.

Folks, let's see a show of hands if you believe this...

Number one, this event is 15 years old. Why drag it out again other than give the haters one more chance to hate.

Number two, self righteous people often profit from the misfortunes of the not so self righteous.

Number three, Amurricans love to vilify people, who probably aren't any more violent or immoral than those making the judgements.

Katie, I don't think you know how hideous Bill Nelson really was. There was a time when I hated him more than the Manson people. If you watch Nelson's copy of this parole hearing that he sold for over $100.00 he is gloating and bragging how he was now the news not Van Houten's parole hearing. Prior to this hearing I wrote to both Van Houten and Krenwinkel and told them about Nelson and said that if they wanted to serve their time quietly to not have anything to do with Neslon. He threatened me at one point. He also ripped me off and so I put him out of business. We all learned later what a scumbag he really was when Sandy Good found out about his pedophilia conviction. There is a copy of Nelson's police file at Cat's site for those interested.

Off topic comment:

I was reading about the case of Roy Gutfinski Jr. The "666" he has tattooed on his forehead reminded me of the swastika Manson has on his.

Mr. Gutfinski apparently changed his name legally to Caius Veiovis, which may be a satanic reference. He had previously attempted to change his name to "Diszade Trash Horror"

Mr. Horror was apparently found guilty in a triple murder/dismemberment a day or two ago, he yelled at the jury "I'll see you in hell". One news article says "Jurors got a visual tour through the Pittsfield apartment of Berkshire triple murder suspect Caius Veiovis, seeing photos of a machete, hatchets and baseball bats into which nails were pounded." Gutfinski also has some type of bumps implanted into his fore head that may have been horns at one point. A pic of him can be seen-->HERE.

Wikipedia says Van Houten's is next eligible for a parole hearing in 2018. I'm sure it will be another circus involving people who had never known or met either the inmate or the victims at the time of the crime and will proceed to blame Van Houten for everything bad that has happened in their lives for the last 40 years.

This hearing took place shortly after noon...wouldn't that be disturbing Lulu during her all important lunch period?

Sunset,

It seems to me that the only one who places blame in LVH's parole hearings is Leslie herself. Are you saying that the families impacted by a killer should not express the impact felt by all simply because they never met the killer? LVH's involvement in the brutal murder and disfiguring of the victims will leave a long lasting impact, not only for the family but for society as well. To paraphrase Leslie, Blame is just a five letter word. It starts and ends with her...

I've never understood why so many people want to see Leslie Van Houten go free. I see people getting mad at the victims families/advocates more than the actual perpetrators. I don't understand that. I know everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it seems so strange how people forget the horror these inmates caused.

katie8753 said...

Thanks Beauders. I've heard that Bill Nelson was a scurrilous scalawag. I'm not basing it on anything Sandy Good said because she's a liar.

But that's not the reason that Leslie was objecting. It was the appearance of a family member, Angela Smaldino, that upset her. She didn't want her flimsy story to be sullied by the truth about the impact it had on the victims' families.

Leslie claims that she can't be a part of exploiting violence?? How did she keep a straight face when she said that?

The only way Charlie and Tex got Leno to submit to being tied up is that Charlie promised him no harm would come to either of them.

LIAR!!!

So poor Leno is lying on his hands tied behind his back, unable to do anything.

Charlie & Tex were 50 times MORE scurrilous than Bill Nelson ever thought about being.

If Leno had suspected anything about those two he would have clunked their heads together like Moe Howard.

Instead, he chose to believe those murderous, cowardly liars. And big ole Tex is so brave, that he can only attack big men if they're tied up or if he has a gun. So he viciously stabs a man with his arms tied behind his back.

Meanwhile, Pat & Leslie are tying a lamp cord around Rosemary's neck and putting a pillow case on her head (WHY? WHO THE FUCK KNOWS?), and Rosemary, hearing the screams of her husband, fights these 2 losers off.

THEN, the 2 loser killers who don't know come here from sic 'em call big ole troglodytic neanderthal Tex in for the final kill.

In my book, that alone makes Leslie guilty as charged. But, wait, that's not all she did. She inflicted 16 more stab wounds to Rosemary's already bleeding back.

Talk about VIOLENCE!!

And if Leslie doesn't want family members coming to her parole hearings, she can kiss all their asses, because it's gonna happen every time.

It seems strange to me that in 2014 people are still mourning the deaths of some people killed in August of 1969.

As horrible as their deaths may have been, they're dead. Whatever comes after death, if anything, is where they're out. We can't do anything for them.

American prisons put people in solitary confinement for months. They lock up the mentally ill, two to a cell and if they beat the shit out of one another, it may take understaffed $17 an hour officers a long time to get there and stop it.

What is more compassionate then? Expressing compassion for someone who got killed 40 years ago, for the 1000th time, or trying to be of help for a fellow sinner who is repentant.

katie8753 said...

These family members of the victims don't like showing up. It's hard on them to hear the grisly descriptions of their family members being butchered beyond recognition for no reason at all except some drugged out hippies were obeying their hippy cult leader.

But they do it to keep these killers in prison. And my hat is off to ALL of them.

katie8753 said...

Tom, they're not repentant. And put them all in solitary and let them beat themselves to death. I say hoo-waa!!

I'm from New Jersey where as long as we walk the streets, we try to help everyone else regardless of who they are, where they were born and where they might have failed. No one is disqualified and consigned to eternal punishment if we can help it.
Your from Texas. You love Jesus and hate just about everyone else. Sean Hannity and Fox News. Who can we hate and feel good about hating them.

katie8753 said...

Let me back up for people like Tom, who are kinda slow.

The reason the Manson Family, and in particular, Charles Manson, is/are referred to as a serial killer/serial killers, is that they killed people randomly. FOR NO REASON AT ALL.

That's what serial killers do. They pick a victim randomly and kill. There isn't any connection that would explain it. Just random.

Like the Manson family.

Take Jodi Arias for example. She killed her boyfriend because he didn't want to be with her anymore. It was a vicious killing, but there was A REASON!! She was filled with rage.

Take the blue-eyed butcher. She stabbed her husband 193 times, including in his eyeballs. She was filled with rage.

Serial killers don't get out. They usually get executed, but in the State of California, they get pampered until they finally croak.

Tom, does that explain it?

Well aren't you special! I guess everyone in New Jersey is really, really happy. Did you give the homeless your Tupperware?

TomG said...

I take exception to your comment that inmates get pampered...

But you know what? I'm not going to argue with you people. We can't change one anothers minds.

I'll sign off on this whole mansonblog bullshit and never post again. How would you all like that?

Until I have too much to drink again, which will be 4pm tomorrow when the Eagles play the 49'ers, missing 4 of 5 starter offensive linemen.

Otherwise, life is good.

Katie the Smaldino's are only involved in the parole hearings because Bill Nelson got the family's all riled up - the only good thing Nelson did related to Manson. Do you know Nelson pretty much died because of the Manson case? His wife left him because of his over involvement in the case and his lies. Somehow he was able to keep her from knowing of his pedophilia conviction for over twenty years. Also I don't particularly care for Sandra Good myself but the paperwork on Cats site are legal papers and were only dug up by her, she had nothing to do what is in them, she just made the public.

MrPoirot said...

Angela Smaldino was profoundly effected by the Labianca's murder and is still till this day. Her family had discouraged her from attending the earlier parole hearings since they thought it would be harmful to her well being but she finally ignored their advice and began fighting parole. I know this because she told me.

beauders said...

Forgot to finish what I was saying before, I think Nelson's participation in the Manson stuff let to his death because when his wife left him his health rapidly declined. He was diabetic and I believe he died from complications due to his diabetic status. I have a dvd of Nelson travelling in Texas while promoting his book on Watson where he speaks of how happy he was to be married and be a family man. I think he died really from a broken heart.

Than you know. Our strongest instinct is to alleviate human suffering. We would never pass by a person who was in distress.

Does a paramedic arrive at an accident scene and do a background check? Wait a minute, this person did something awful 40 years ago. Fuck them. Let them bleed on the asphalt. Karma and all that.

Tom G. I must say I somewhat agree with you. Though I do like learning and seeing new things about this case and where people are today. But if Leslie were in any other country - she would have been released 20 or more years ago. We are sometimes very harsh in this country when interest would be served better otherwise.
