Considered by many to be the most beautiful woman of her generation, Sharon Tate remains a fascinating pop icon and a poster child for the 1960s. What struck most about Sharon was her gentle nature and the sheer perfection of her face, but she was far more than just a beauty. The few films she made during her brief career, including Valley of the Dolls, Eye of the Devil, and The Fearless Vampire Killers, have secured her position as a Hollywood legend. Over forty years since her last film, Sharon's spirit and charisma live strong in the memories of those who knew her best, and her style continues to inspire the worlds of fashion, beauty, art, and film.
Sharon Tate: Recollection is a one-of-a-kind celebration of Sharon's life and career, her influence as a fashion icon throughout the world, and in effect presents a sociological portrait of the 1960s—its youth culture, the sexual revolution, the rise of independent cinema, and Hollywood's changing studio system. In this impressive photo book, Sharon Tate's story emerges through quotes and short essays—recollections—by her sister, Debra Tate, as well as by those who knew and have been influenced by her.
What emerges from these pages is a stunning tribute to an unforgettable life.

You're welcome!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a great book!
Wow, thanks, Venus! I wasn't sure this book would ever get written.
ReplyDeleteGreat family pictures. Sharon's face really didn't change that much from when she was a child.
ReplyDeleteThanks Venus! You are all things Sharon Tate!
ReplyDeleteThe way we did our eyes back then was we put eye shadow on the crease of the eyelid, then brushed our eyebrows up with vaseline. And lots of mascara.
Little Sharon was so cute.
ReplyDeleteNo one has ever answered this question, which I've asked several times.
Why did Paul & Doris wait 10 years to have another child?
Reminds me of a '40 Pontiac Indian I once found...was believe it or not sittin' for some 55 yrs...
ReplyDeleteSharon was a "B" actess at best.
ReplyDeleteLittle was a mistake
ReplyDeleteKatie, I was under the impression that Doris was unable to get pregnant for almost 10 years until Debra was born. Then Patti came soon after. The same thing happened to my aunt.
ReplyDelete^As you said, Venus is all things Sharon Tate, so she may have a better, or more correct, answer.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that they might not have been together very much since Paul Tate was in the military. Sharon was a war baby and they might've chosen to wait until things settled down. Of course, Debra was also a war baby (Korean war) so who really knows?
ReplyDeleteI think Carol was right too, they might not have been able to have kids for some reason. I was recently watching an interview with Dianne Lennon (from the Lennon Sisters) and she'd been amrried for a few years and was unable to have kids. They adopted a baby girl and 9 months later, she gave birth to another baby girl!
Thanks Carol & Venus. I was thinking the same thing, that it might have been a medical problem or simply a personal choice since Paul was in the military and they moved around a lot. I have always just been curious about that.
ReplyDeleteSharon's hair and Debra's look like the same color in the 1st photo. Nice photo of all 3 girls.
ReplyDeleteI think the one of young Sharon with the curly braids is adorable.
Is it just me or does the Girl on the Right hand side of the first Picture look an awful lot like a young Squeaky?
ReplyDeleteLouis spent half his life hunting the rare 1940 Pontiac Indian. Louis you need to go find the Malaysian airliner now. It's probably sitting up on blocks in a hanger somewhere in the outback; the passengers being held captive in a Roo farm.
ReplyDeleteProkes!
ReplyDeleteYou're ALIVE! LOL
Speaking of which... where is Sunset??
Sunset... you with us?
Isn't the cover photo from this book the same one from a book called POLAROIDS FROM THE DEAD? I think POLAROIDS was published in the 90s.
ReplyDeleteSadly, they may be years finding that Malaysian airbus Mr. P. It's certainly not going to be easy. It didn't land, but is somewhere in the ocean.
ReplyDeleteThat car was quite the find indeed. That was in Victoria, BC. They guy had parked the car in about 1942, and went off to the war. He never came back. His mother refused to do anything with the car. A true time capsule. Just some 17,000 miles on the odometer. I found it in about '97 and shortly afterward, she ended up in an old age home...relatives came and got the car.
Sharon Tate and Edie Sedgewick had the same eye makeup. Dunno who was first with that look. I read a bio on Sedgewick and became interested in her. Fantastic eyes. Pity she hung out with dopers who introduced her to drugs. Drugs killed her pretty quick. I think Sedgewick and Tate died age 26.
ReplyDeleteI'm still here, just not as much as I used to be. I don't really have anything to post and I'm still having some computer problems.
ReplyDeleteSunset did you run a Recovery using the oldest version available? Sometimes that resets everything to a point prior to the date the bug got in your hard drive.
ReplyDelete@Poirot The computer would not even boot up, it just said "disk error" when it tried to start. I took it to my computer expert, she built the computer, she said she could retrieve data about 80% of the time from a bad hard drive. She couldn't on mine, it was toast.
ReplyDeleteShe installed a new hard drive and I got Windows 7 because everyone hates Windows 8, I had XP but Microsoft stops updating XP on April 5. I hate Windows 7, I have my computer hooked to a 62 inch TV with a HDMI cable, it makes for watching great movies, but it creates other problems.
Edie Sedgwick had "man brows". She didn't look anything like Sharon.

ReplyDeleteWhile studying the TLB Manson thingy I always tried looking for the psychology behind this strange incident because logic didn't seem to apply. Much of the psycho mumbo jumbo doesn't help explain TLB either.
Here is a perfect example. A noted psychologist explains why the Rolling Stones have lasted 50 years and she has it all wrong. They stuck together for money. Love and brotherhood had little to do with it.
"Foreward By Roman Polanski"..... Maybe I'm wrong but I thought his preference was "backwards".....
ReplyDeleteIt's remarkable how much Doris looked like Sharon with a 1940 hairstyle. Both pretty ladies.....
