Is Charles Manson Getting Married?

Convicted killer's 25-year-old companion Star tells Rolling Stone, "Charlie is my husband"

Charles Manson, perhaps the most infamous convicted killer of all time, is 79 years old and still locked up in California's Corcoran State Prison, where he walks with a cane and sports chipped prison dentures. Star is a 25-year-old brunette who's been loyally visiting Manson in jail since she was 19 years old and maintains several websites devoted to defending Manson and his pro-Earth environmental causes. And according to an astonishingly in-depth new profile by Rolling Stone contributing editor Erik Hedegaard in our new issue (on stands Friday) that was nearly two years in the making, the pair could be heading down the aisle. Sort of.
The Manson Family Tree: meet the key players in Charles' orbit

In 2007, Star moved to Corcoran to be near Charlie, who she visits each Saturday and Sunday for up to five hours a day. "Yeah, well, people can think I'm crazy," she likes to say. "But they don't know. This is what's right for me. This is what I was born for." She grew up near St. Louis, where her deeply religious family feared she'd lost her way ("I was smoking marijuana, eating mushrooms, not wanted to go to church every Sunday," she explains), so they locked her in her room for much of her high school years. A friend passed her some of Manson's environmental writing, and she started corresponding with him. When she was 19, she took the $2,000 she'd saved up working in a retirement home kitchen and hopped a train to Corcoran. Manson named her Star. She recently cut an X onto her forehead.

Star's resemblence to Manson Family member Susan Atkins is beyond striking, and Star seeks to distinguish herself from the woman known as Sexy Sadie, who was incarcerated for her role in the Tate-LaBianca killings until her death in 2009. "That bitch was fucking crazy," she tells RS. "She was a crazy fucking whore. 'Oh Charlie, I did this for you.' She didn't know what she was doing."

And Star says she can prove Manson is more devoted to her than any other girl: "I'll tell you straight up, Charlie and I are going to get married," she tells us. "When that will be, we don't know. But I take it very seriously. Charlie is my husband. Charlie told me to tell you this. We haven't told anybody about that."
Star says there won't be any conjugal visits because "California lifers no longer get them." If they were an option, "we'd be married by now."

Manson, however, seems less convinced the impending nuptials are a reality, "Oh that," he says. "That's a bunch of garbage. You know that, man. That's trash. We're just playing that for public consumption."

  1. To Everyone:

I apologize for being MIA the last couple weeks.
    I've been very busy.
I'm hoping that my life will return to semi-normal fairly soon.
Thanks to everyone, for their continued help and interest in the meantime.

Katie is basically steering the ship, right now.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, hit her up.

She can be found here, or on her own "just for fun" website called "Katie's blog about nothing".
Her website provides laidback humor and conversation on a wide range of topics.

  2. Thanks Lynyrd.

I'm checking the comments every hour or so for comments that were moderated and need to be published. If more time than that goes by, please be patient. Your comment(s) will be posted, hopefully in a timely manner! :)

  3. Charlie always looks mad in his pictures. He oughtta be glad a young girl is interested in him at his age. What's up with that?

  4. If you were in prison 40+ years with many months being in solitaire or recovering from 3rd degree burns or wearing Rosie Palm out, I think you may look mad all the time too, just saying.....

  5. Apparently, there was a phone call transcription uploaded onto the Manson Direct website today, Nov. 20, 2013.

    Thanx for the post.

  6. Ahhhh, conjugal visit sex. Now that's happening. LOL.

I wonder what it's like to marry a guy with a swastika cut in his forehead.

And Mr. P., why do you think Gary Hinman was a commie?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Excellent. In more manson related non-news, the ny post has picked up on this reporting that rolling stone is reporting that they are to be married, and describing Star as a Susan Atkins look alike and describing Susan Atkins as one of Charlie's blonde girls...

  8. Katie perhaps Gary was a conservative Christian republican. All the reports of him being a drug manufacturer, bhuddist and communist are probably not PC.

  9. Wasn't it Doris who put and end to the conjugal visits thing?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hinman was a commie but that's not a bad word. He believed in a utopia where everybody gets what they need. He wasntwasn't like passing secrets to the soviets or anything...

  11. Yes Patty. I was making a Seinfeld funny. LOL.

Doris did put an end to it. She was sick of Tex's wife popping out kids when her grandchild was brutally murdered.

    The unfairness of it all.

I really don't know how Tex lives with himself. Even with all that "born again" crap and what not, what he did was maniacal.

  12. Just read about Lynyrd in Rolling Stone.

  13. CieloDrive!

    I know...
I'm gonna run an entire thread on it tomorrow!!
(Scans of the magazine, and all)

    Stay tuned...

  14. In case anyone doesn't know it yet... it seems "yours truly" MISTER Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, may have been quoted inside the pages of "Rolling Stone" Magazine.

Once I get my hands on a hard copy (of the magazine)... and see the article with my own eyes... I'll be posting a thread of confirmation.

    Evidently...
Folks who hold a year-round subscription (to the magazine) received a copy today.
Three such subscribers have contacted me, to inform me that I'm quoted within the pages.

I don't have a subscription, and must wait for the magazine to reach the retail shelves.

Either this is some kind of cyberspace "April fools" joke (on me), or it's reality... but, one thing's for certain... Lynyrd will know for sure, very soon!

    Stay tuned! LOL

    PS:
I'm told, that Manson is not on the cover.
The cover photo is of "Eminem".

  15. If this IS an elaborate "April Fools" joke... it's been very well orchestrated... because I've been contacted by some pretty "heavy hitters" within the TLB community.

And now... CieloDrive is mentioning it here.
    He's another heavy hitter.

If anyone has a HARD COPY of the magazine, please forward scans of it to:

    LynyrdSkynyrdBand@gmail.com

I gotta see this, to believe it.

  17. If your not on the cover of this one Lynyrd, I'm sure it won't be long,

I think Dr. Hook wrote a song about it a long time ago, HERE.

  18. has anyone else clinked on the link to the original article from 1970? Charlie was really on his game. I really think the lure of Manson, why we all are still fascinated by him, is that he was the ultimate paradox. He preached a message that was very zen and Christ-like. I was a young 14-year old back then eating Orange Sunshine every chance I could get (75 cents in Harvard Square) and I could have seen myself being completely transfixed by Charlie's rap.
But while his message might have been similar to Christ's in terms of "dying to one self" etc., Charlie himself was clearly not like Christ what with the women beating, car theft, forced gay acts etc etc.
But is it possible Manson really did have love in his heart at one time? And if so, how did it turn black so fast?
Anyways, the '70's article is well worth the read.

Will Lynyrd still talk to us once he is famous?

  20. Lynyrd, you did make the Rolling Stone..... so did Marlise:

That little girl right there, Lynette," he says, "I've never met a girl as truthful as her. She's never turncoated. She did 34 years in prison and never broke her vow. A man can't even do that." But Star is on the scene now, leading some of those on the Internet Manson beat to wonder if she's replaced Squeaky in Charlie's affections.

"Lynn deserves to be number one," wrote LynyrdSkynyrdBand on the Tate-LaBianca Homicide Research Blog, after a picture of Star and Gray Wolf with Charlie made the rounds. "She's been loyal for decades." Marliese: "I'm guessing the beautiful girl with Charlie hasn't experienced any strip and suck demands from him, or felt his fist smash across her face." A number of them commented on how unsettling it is that Star looks so much like Susan Atkins "when she was all waxed and pretty."

    ReplyDelete
  21. Charlie did say one time that he had a nervous breakdown. I think he said something like; I have one nervous breakdown and have to spend my whole life in prison because of it.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mr. P., I'll ask again: what does PC mean?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Blogs tend to have their own style of Political Correctness.

Congratulations Lynyrd, you're now part of the story, now don't go all Bill Nelson obsessive on us.

I'm putting a new thread together now...

  26. Leary7. I remember it costing 2-3 dollars on the Boston Commons.

  27. Regarding Charlie's nervous breakdown; consider his own use of LSD on his mental health. For people who have schizophrenic tendencies as Charlie did; LSD is a triggering device. LSD itself replicates the symptoms of schizophrenia. Charlie's poor mental health was exacerbated by LSD use. He avoided alcohol because he had seen the bad effects it had on his relatives but he was caught unawares by LSD and fell victim to it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Boston was always more expensive than Cambridge, 777. But I do remember the price really jumped one year, I think it was 1972.

Charlie's use of LSD is an interesting topic Mr P. I always recall the story of his first Dead concert where he was trippin and spent the night curled up in a ball against on of the back walls. I strongly suspect that Charlie did a whole lot less trippin than he had the rest of the idiots do.

    ReplyDelete
  29. That one Greatful Dead trip could have caused Charlie to suffer serious mental damage. Remember it wasn't long after that which Dr David Smith said Charlie was "Ambulatory Pschizophrenic".
There was also the night of The Big Freakout where Charlie had a bad trip like everyone else.
Pat Krenwinkle famously made the claim that Charlie didn't take the acid he gave to others but she is wrong. On a few occations it is likely that he took full doses but then how much difference is there between a sober Charlie and a tripping Charlie?
