Supplies in the desert - Manson
There is 5 jerry cans with 10 cartons of Pall Mall's and a few cases of coffee, cans of honey, oil and W.W. wheels (Volkswagen wheels), supply's covered with heavy canvas and dirt on top. Two shotguns and buck shot shells, 2 trucks full of stuff up on a place where I thought the waters wouldn't reach it. I wasn't thinking 40 years- it may be worth a day of time to look if you are ever down there again. I was only out there 3 or 4 times.
Easy Manson
Easy Manson
I thought this was so cool, because every time I went to Barkers, I thought about things the Family may have hidden out there...
Yes, we looked, but not in the right places, or these items were already found many years ago and picked up for souvenirs, just like the bathroom cabinet that disappeared many years ago...

Thank You Kimchi.

I took the liberty, of making the print lime green. LOL
Thank You to Mansonsbackporch.com for the document.
Folks...
Be sure to check out Michael's new website.
Everyone is welcome.
Buster could find that stuff.
The park ranger Don Ward? He said you could hide the empire state building out there and nobody would find it.
Charlie found the best place on earth to hide from the law. He could have stayed there for years undetected. But no-o-o-o-o! He had to burn that damn road grader!
Imagine the TLB saga if Charlie and company had been able to stay hidden 5 or 6 years. That would be tough to do. Usually Charlie would get enough of winter by mid January and go back to LA.
Kimchi,
Please check your email.
Thanks.
If I may pontificate some more:
Charlie loved the desert but I think it had a disasterous affect on him in the winter of 68. The boringness and isolation of the desert was much like a jail cell to Charlie's brain. He has often bragged about his imagination and how he uses it to stay amused while in confinement.
While Charlie was at Barkers late 68 he had the time to dream up his Helter Skelter plot. Charlie's natural coping mechanisms which serve him well in prison led him to his destruction while in the desert. It was at Barkers where he formulated Helter Skelter. Charlie was unaware that his brain was fooling him. Endless empty vistas and complete silence with very little to interact with while at Barkers sent his brain into its prison-coping mode which automatically generated Helter Skelter.
Double 00 buckshot packs a wallop. About the only shotgun shells more powerful are rifled slugs and "pumpkin balls". Double ought buck was illegal in this state when I was a kid, but I knew a kid that had some.
What??....no beer?..leave me out of the search for it.

I bet it was in Calif too...wonder if it was special loads that Danny made at Spahn? Didn't he have reloading equip there and specialized in reloads?
The other thing that caught my eye was that Manson said "I was only out there 3-4 times"....
I always had it planted in my head that Death Valley was his 2nd home...that wasn't the case at all it appears.

Poirot replies:
Charlie stayed extended periods. Months total. I'd be curious how long in totale.
Wow, I can only imagine how stale those 10 cartons of Pall Mall would be by now, yuck. Hmm, never knew 00 buckshot was illegal anywhere, it's pretty common shells in the South.
It's a big desert, too bad Charlie don't know anything about a GPS hah!
Probably be near impossible to find it nowadays without some better intel.

Hahaha, I thought that too about the smokes...just the thought of non-filters... double yuk...and inside jerry cans? Saturated with gasoline fumes and who knows what else...lol
I looked up the double aught...they are still "very" legal in California...always have been, just hard to get now-a-days...like everything else ammo...stupid...
Charlie has been thinking about the 10 cartons of Pall Malls for 43 yrs. I mean, damn! 10 cartons!!!!
