DALLAS March 26, 2013 (AP)
A federal judge in Texas says the Los Angeles Police Department should be able to obtain the decades-old taped conversations between a Manson family disciple and his attorney. Judge Richard A. Schell ruled Sunday that Charles "Tex" Watson waived his right to attorney-client privilege when he allowed the lawyer to sell the tapes to an author. A bankruptcy court ruled last year that the LAPD should get the tapes, but Watson appealed. The LAPD has sought the tapes on the basis that they could provide clues to unsolved murders. A message left for an LAPD spokesman was not immediately returned Tuesday.
Finally! Maybe now we can get closer to finding out what's on those tapes!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the google alert Katie.
ReplyDeleteSo like...
Does this mean, the LAPD will finally and definitely be listening to those tapes for sure?
I mean...
Is it just me... or is the tone of this article a bit indefinite?
A federal judge in Texas says the Los Angeles Police Department "should be able to" obtain the tapes???
Should be able to??
I'd feel a bit more confident, if the judge clearly stated "the LAPD WILL obtain the tapes on Friday". LOL
I guess I'm just jaded at this point.
Have we FINALLY exhausted every legal aspect of this bullshit, or what?
I hope so...
Good point Lynyrd. "Should be able to" sounds kinda vague....
ReplyDeleteTex's lawyer is a "Super Lawyer". LOL.

The Tex tapes...
ReplyDeleteHere for once I am dying to be dead wrong
But- here is a life long liar who serves himself first and foremost. He was talking to a family friend and had hopes of getting out someday...
did he really say anything that would make him look more horrible or criminal??
It would be the most interesting new news in a very long time and it would open a new door or two so my fingers are crossed...
St. I don't think he would have said anything that would incriminate him at all, but I do think he would be singing like a canary to put the blame for any other murders on others.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a good point Katie
ReplyDeleteBUT
at that point they weren't aware of any other murders- so why would he need to point any fingers at all??
him bringing up unknown crimes couldn't have helped him in any way I can think of??
what really keeps my eyes half open though is the irony...
ReplyDeletelife is so filled with it.
after all these years and so much research by so many...
wouldn't it just figure that answers were sitting right there all this time???
" once in awhile you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right"
Well I'm not sure what Tex and Boyd talked about, but he might have questioned Tex on some unsolved murders in CA that were committed around time of the TLB murders. I think that if that's the case, Tex would have tried to deflect guilt from himself to the others.
ReplyDeleteOf course I don't have any idea what they talked about, but there's probably a reason for the interest in these tapes, I would think.
Yes, it is ironic that, if there is anything on those tapes, that they've been lying there gathering dust all these years.
I agree he would have done just that if the topic of other murders came up... he never met anyone in his life he cared about more than himself and maybe that is what will help us...
ReplyDeleteI know attorneys tell you to say as little as possible in most cases- but if they thought this was confidential and he was trying to help him avoid land mines down the road... there is always a chance they covered some ' what if this comes out's "
we can hope lol
I'm a pessimist by nature, when it comes to this kinda stuff.
ReplyDeleteBUT... you just never know...
The LAPD seems to believe these tapes are worth a listen.
And indeed, they've invested a good deal of time (and energy), in that pursuit.
That fact alone, lends a palpable measure of credence to this situation.
I'm cautiously hopeful. LOL
(Sorry about the re-post. I had omitted a word)
There's got to be a reason why Tex did not the LAPD to have those tapes. If there's nothing on them problematic for him then why fight this?
ReplyDeleteOk, according to an article: "Watson claims there are no conversations on the tapes about other crimes. He did not object to the LAPD listening to the tapes, but he wanted to block the detectives from taking possession of the tapes because they could then be released to the media."
ReplyDeleteSo, maybe what's on there won't implicate him in other crimes but may cause him embarrassment and may cause his supposedly rehabilitated persona damage with the public thereby sealing his fate of jail til death.
Also, I cannot believe Tex's attorney would secure Tex's legal permission for him sell tapes to an author who was planning to write a book if the tapes would show his client had been involved in other murders. I'm not an attorney, but my understanding of the limits of attorney-client privilege that might have bound his attorney from disclosing confessed details of other committed murders is that this privilege is gone if things said between them are overheard by third parties (e.g., the author of this book and any future listeners of the tapes).
ReplyDeleteSTORMY!!!! Good points!
ReplyDeleteIt might just be that Tex said some embarrassing things on those tapes that might make his children hang their heads due to their parentage.
He did make the comment "they ran around like chickens with their heads cut off" (Cielo Drive), and who knows what else he said.
He might just not want the general public, i.e. his family and any potential allies for his release, to know exactly what he said in those tapes.
He probably just wants people to wonder what he was thinking between the times he was arrested in Texas until he wrote that book, and according to him, was completely saved and remorseful.
As to Tex confessing to being involved in other murders, I have a hard time believing that good ole baby-killing Tex would admit to such. I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts that if Tex was asked any questions regarding any other murders, he was quick to point the finger at others. He's a yellow-bellied lilly-livered coward...then and now.
He would never stand up and take his just deserts. He'd rather just blame it on everyone else.
And in regard to his children, I can't imagine what that would feel like to have a convicted murderer as a father. Not only a convicted murderer, but a savage beast that was one of the most monstrous creatures in the 20th century.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Doris stopped those conjugal visits, but 4 times too late. There are 4 poor souls out there saying "HUH?"
Why that woman would marry that monster and procreate is beyond me. She just caused 4 young people to wonder why they even came into being.
I have a lot more to say, but I think it's best that I don't.
ReplyDelete'Til Tomorrow.
G'night Jugdish!
Lynyrd don't you think it's time to change back to the blog's origonal name. I think it would be ok to keep the new name if the Col would change his blog's name to "Col Congenial's Exceptional Etiquette Blog" but I don't see him doing that.

ReplyDeleteActually I thought the best song by Dire Straits was Private Investigations.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!
Scarred for Life. No compensation.
ReplyDeletePrivate Investigations.
Well, the "domestic violence expert" for the Jodi Arias trial has been talking for 2 days now and hasn't really said anything yet.
ReplyDeleteWake me up when she gets to the good parts.
Jodi did by herself inflict more damage than Rudy Guede, Amanda and Raffe did together.Jodi is a raging homicidal maniac like Lizzy Borden. Ol' Lizzy never served a day. Being cute helps.
ReplyDeleteThe jury will have a hard time believing the battered woman syndrome and her hundreds of lies and that wacky psychologist Dr Fog.
The battered woan psychologist is clearly more together than Dr Fog.
Would you open the door for Jodi Arias if she was carrying a gun and a knife? Keep in mind that if you do open the door you'll definantly get laid.
Dr. Foggy needs to memorize the recipe for PTSD.
ReplyDeleteMr. P: Would you open the door for Jodi Arias if she was carrying a gun and a knife? Keep in mind that if you do open the door you'll definantly get laid.
That's why they call her the "3-hole wonder". LOL.
Now, Wouldn't it be interesting and put the cat among the pigeons if Tex admitted all the slayings were his idea- drug burn revenge maybe- and Charlies only involvement was going to Cielo to see for himself it was all true ( and not some Belladonna/Speed) induced Tex fantasy?
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong I'm no Charlie groupie just think maybe Holy Roller Tex may fess up- you never know.
To Saint : Love the Grateful Dead Scarlet Begonias line.
Thanks Strix!
ReplyDeleteThanks Strix!
ReplyDeleteI like your theory but here's my problem with it. First of all, baby-killin' Tex is not going to admit to anything incriminating (in my opinion) UNLESS it somehow benefits him.
The thing that keeps me thinking that Charlie is the one who ordered the Cielo Drive hit is the fact that Charlie DID say, and admits to saying, to the girls, "Go with Tex, and do whatever Tex tells you to do".
Why in the world would Charlie say that to the girls, if he didn't know what Tex was going to do?
Hi Katie,
ReplyDeleteMaybe Tex had hinted at his plans to mouth almighty Sadie and she went running to Charlie with this "( I promised not to say anything BUT....)" so Charlie thinks OH oH, I dont want to know anything about anything but its Tex's trip and if he wants me to tell the girls to go with him then that's cool.Notice how he sent the expendables- Sadie- not generally liked, Pat whoaa! too hairy by far and LVH the snobby cow who made it obvious she was Bobbys girl from the off ,bet that wrankled with Charlie!
Maybe Tex isn't using the cross as a key to the cell door I know HIGHLY unlikely and he may be full of repentance-yeah right, and he did confess to it all.I dont know I dont think anyone will know tbh.
Maybe it was just like Harold True said they murdered at places they knew. There must be a link between La Bianca and Tex apart from whats known about the wigs link,it's been said she exported more than clothes from Mexico also, but who knows.
I feel Charlie is still pulling strings- look at Star another young, God shes young, very pretty girl with a beautiful head of hair removed because CM bestowed that "honour" on her. That action must of been like Viagra to him- Oh Yes The Old Boy's STILL Got It!
I have lived in Hippy Communes since the age of 15, when we realised someone wanted to be top dog we asked them to leave, I suppose the big difference is none of us ever flocked to one person.Would I have jumped on CM's bus? More than likely but wouldnt have been around by the time of the killings- VD,garbage for food, flies, filth and having someone else tell me when to sleep, eat, wake up, have sex ermmm no thanks!

ReplyDeleteHI, just realised I have jumped aboard with no introduction of myself or anything, so sorry I am not usually so ill mannered, just got so excited to be able to join in a subject thats been part of my life for so long.
I live in the UK in a cabin in the woods ,which up untill yesterday was snowed in.
I come from what could be called a disfunctional family which means my elder brother practically brought me up from aged 10.As he had care of me he wasn't going to let a kid sister cramp his lifestyle so when he wanted to go to 3 day festivals I had to go too so my intro to alternative lifestyle started early. At the age of 15 I joined a commune in a huge squat in London and worked in the Hippy hot spot of Notting hill in London. This led to meeting bands which were the uk equilivent of The Dead I suppose. That led to more work with various bands(no not a Groupie! Paid employment) One of our communes was rwsponsible for organising all the free festivals in the 70's.
My musical tastes are obviously the bands I worked for and The Dead, The Fugs,CSNY,The Rolling Stones- especially Keef-( God knows I love Keef).
I have lived with my Hubby(common law) for many years in our cabin near the Lakeland mountains with a houseful of pets (reptiles are my passion) and am a retired zoo keeper. Thats about it,once again sorry for gatecrashing.Hi to all and look forward to getting to know you.
Greetings Strix. Interesting that you worked for the Stones. I get the feeling that they have pretty much done their thing and won't tour anymore. Maybe the odd concert. I don't think Mick gets along with Keith at all anymore. The band actually sounded fantastic on their short concert series with the exception of Ron Woods who seems to have lost the knack. He tends to play in the background instead of lead.
ReplyDeleteIt will be difficult to do without them after 50 years. Kids today can't seem to play a guitar.
I did hear recently that Keith enjoys crossing America in his RV. Dunno why he never mentioned that in his autobio.

Hi Strix. Your musical tastes are close to mine. I recommend that you check out Phish and Widespread Panic if you haven't already.
Music for wise ole owls......
Hi Strix,
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the blog.
If you love Keith Richards, you've gotta watch this interview:
(Make sure to SKIP the first 7 minutes and 50 seconds)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiGPO0RcW4c
Keith is often the focus of light-hearted jokes... but make no mistake... the man has a brilliant mind.
This interview demonstrates that aptly.
He's a top-notch guitarist.
Hendrix, Clapton, (and others) generally get more attention than Keith... but, he's second to no one.

Well nobody is around so I guess I'll talk about the Jodi Peroxided-bitch trial.
ReplyDeleteToday the defense tried to cry and whine about Juan Martinez getting a little buzz, signing a few autographs and smiling for a change, they had to cry in their milk pails that they weren't getting any attention.
Didn't do any good.
The "domestic violence expert" decided to vocalize that Travis was jealous.
HUH??? No evidence there.
Then she splayed some e-mails from Travis' friends that he was a stalker.
HUH????
I've been to Phoenix. I worked a car auction there years ago. It's a dirty city. Just like Las Vegas. I've been there too. If you drive up and down the streets, you see nothing but hookers. It doesn't matter what time of day it is.
In fact, I saw hookers coming into the car auction. You can't miss 'em. They're usually black (sorry y'all but they are), wearing short skirts, low tops, torn up mesh panty hose and "come fuck me pumps".

It comes to my attention that Jodi only gets 2 meals a day. They get her up at 3am, give her breakfast, transport her to the courthouse by 8am, and she doesn't get dinner until around 5pm.
ReplyDeleteShe whined about getting headaches. So now she gets half her breakfast in the morning and the other half at lunch.
She's getting 2600 calories a day. Which is plenty.
Is she getting french toast or eggs benedict in the mornings?
If Jodie doesn't like the dietary restrictions in the Maricopa County jail, maybe she shouldn't have KILLED TRAVIS IN ARIZONA!!!
Maybe she should have lured him to California, and gotten off with a misdemeanor charge.
In California, they just say "oh you killed someone? Well just pay a fine and you're outta here".
ReplyDeleteHA HA.
In Texas it's the death penalty. And we take it seriously.
ReplyDeleteIf Boyd had argued that Tex should have a trial in Texas successfully, Tex would have been tried in Texas, and in Texas, he would have been found guilty as charged, and he would be worm's meat by now, because Texas doesn't vacillate between the death penalty and life in prison with parole like California does.
ReplyDeleteSo let it be said...so let it be done....
Arias murder trial DA Martinez may have gotten himself in trouble yesterday. He seemed giddy at times and his constant objections seemed like heckling. The defence filed a much needed misconduct complaint concerning Martinez acting like he thinks he's kim kardashian in front of the courthouse by signing autographs and having pics made with bystanders. Fame has gone to his head.
ReplyDeleteThe psychologist did say there was abuse by Travis but this statement was a generalization made because Martinez had made about a dozen objections in a row so the psychologist let Martinez have it.
Mr. P I don't think what Juan did was bad, although he probably shouldn't have done it. But either way, if people had come up to him for his autograph and he declined, it still would have been noticed.
ReplyDeleteThe defense made too much out of it. Calling Jean Casarez to the stand just made them look stupid. She didn't even say what they were accusing her of.
Jodi's defense team has already spent over $800,000, which the taxpayers of Arizona are going to have to shell out. That is going to be public knowledge.
Katie it was a big mistake Juan made. A death penalty verdict would be thrown out on appeal for unproffesional behavior like Juan committed.
ReplyDeleteAlso I think the defense is tired of Juan's Kanarak-like objections. I think Juan is obstructing defense questioning by making obsessive numbers of objections. The judge needs to reign in Juan. He is bullying the defense and the judge. Judge Sherry is in over her head. She can't stand up to the chihuahua DA.
She can't stand up to the chihuahua DA.
ReplyDeleteMr. P. HA HA. I agree that he comes onto these witnesses like a storm trooper, but the defense does their share of objecting too.
They look so comical going up to the side bars. You have itty bitty Juan vs Baby Huey Nurmi.
