Thanks Kimchi!

  1. Ummm, I bet not. Now Lindsay Lohan is making a movie called, "The Canyons"....set in contemporary LA. Guess no manson movie for her...

  2. Yeah...
I highly doubt this movie will actually hit the theaters.

If it's really "coming this fall"... it certainly hasn't been promoted a whole lot.

Is Lindsay supposed to be in this one too?

I didn't see her name... but then again, I didn't watch the trailer very closely. LOL

  3. Yikes. Did you see the lighting? This looks like a student film.

  4. With their shared obsession with death, I am waiting for Woody Allen to do a Manson film.

    kidding. i think.

  5. This might be interesting....looks like a good "drive-in flick". LOL.

  6. Realistically speaking, there just isn't a fresh enough angle to the story to garner any kind of serious audience response. Even if someone like Oliver Stone got a big budget to retell the story it's doubtful it would have broad appeal.

I actually thought for a split second that the idiot Susana Lo film might have some arthouse appeal if she were able to capture a feminist bent to the girls all bonding and such. But Lo is a half ass hack with a sappho agenda so that ship sunk.

The only Manson film I would be hot for would be a documentary bringing as many of the old gang together as possible to flash back on the Spahn and Barker days. I mean you'd have to be curious what Mary Brunner and Nancy Pitman would have to say to each other, or Grogan and Gypsy or Squeaky seeing Ouish for the first time in forty years. These folk did a long strange trip together, some refelction would be fascinating.

Other than that, the only TLB "vignette" that I feel could produce an interesting short screenplay would be the time Red and Blue traveled to Wisconsin to talk Mother Mary back into the fold. I am pretty sure this was after Manson had become the face of evil, so having three of the Manson girls hanging out in a Denny's in Madison must have caused some ripples. I think there might be a small film in there.

    Ahahahahaha

Leary... that was freakin' hilarious! LOL

    GREAT one-liner!

I'm picturing that sentence across the top of a newspaper! LOL

  8. After years and years of blogging, I'm gonna hang up my hat.

Some of you may say who cares...others may say why?

    It doesn't matter to me.

Just like St. Circumstance said, why keep fighting?

A certain person insulted me 2 nights ago and no one rallied to my defense, not even my hero.

Well that spells it out to me.

We've hit rock bottom baby. If people with no spinal column and no gray matter can attack and no one defends, it's the end of the end.

I hope that the neurotransmitters, endorphins and glial cells can endure.

I hope the Candys of the world stop hurting people's feelings and I hope the Pattys of the world just chill.

Yes I had the wrong avatar. I've heard about that ad infinitum. But I acknowledged it and rectified it.

    Jesus Christ!!!

I wish the best to Brian. I will still be there, whether in spirit or just there.

Sorry Brian, but I guess that interview made so many people jealous that they couldn't stand it.....not your fault or mine...just ipso facto.

TLB will still go on without me. It's been there long before me, and will continue without me.

I had hoped to learn the truth.

But I can't with this group of jealous nubos.

To my friends at LSB, Bobby, Mary, Venus, Carol, Starship, Circumstance, Matt, Bedpan, Marliese, Stormy, Dill, Alice and all the rest, I wish you ALL THE BEST! I will always look after you.

And if we don't learn the truth....that's okay too.

  9. Folks:

I may begin closing the blog nightly after-hours, and re-opening each morning.

It will mean more work for me... and less fun for you.
But unfortunately... some people can't hold their shit together past 9pm.

The above post clearly illustrates the type of crap that I must deal with regularly.
The above post, has ZERO informational content and/or research value.
It serves no other purpose, than to attract attention and incite trouble.

Some folks just don't realize, that discussions (even arguments) must eventually have an END.
    As I always say:
State your opinion... and leave it.
Some folks must re-address the same issue 1,000 times.
These folks eventually become completely ineffectual, as after a while... no one even listens to them, anymore.

If the blog does begin closing after-hours...
I apologize to folks like Beauders and Poirot, who enjoy posting normal comments at late hours.

  10. As they say in the gumba movies, Lynyrd, you'z gotta do what you'z gotta do.
One of my favorite words is solipsism, which loosely defined means excessive self-focus. I encounter allot of it in the classes I teach which are heavy on discussion. Invaraibly there are one or two folk who are hellbent on using the forum to talk about themselves and vent all their frustrations. It is just the nature of the beast.
I suppose it is the same in blog world. Saint and Katie, who are two of my favorite posters, like to infuse personal info and such and both tend to take things personally. But they are also two of the most knowledgable TLB students around. However, when you put yourself out there, as Saint and Katie do, there are always going to be folk who attack for some reason. It's just human nature. And it sucks. I suppose it is the price you pay for open discussion.
I am sorry Katie got her feelings hurt. I wasn't aware of the incident she cited. I do hope she takes a walk around the block and decides to remain a vital part of the TLB discussion. There's no one else like her.
    Just my two cents.

  11. i've been on a lot of forums and message boards over the last ten or fifteen years from jfk to ufos and everything in between but without a doubt the most consistantly vicious mean places are the manson sites.
you have to have thick skin and a very mellow disposition not to get goaded into nasty cyberfights with people you've never and probably will never meet.i have no idea why this subject brings out the worst in people but it always has.
another thing i've noticed is that people pick fights with someone they KNOW they'll get a reaction from.its no fun to provoke someone who refuses to fight back.
thats why i said to katie a couple of weeks ago that its always best to walk away from internet fights it takes away their incentive to hassle you and it takes away the need for you to kill a fly with a sledgehammer in response which might get your point across but just makes things worse in the long run.
there ain't no shame in walking away and saving your bullets for a more worthy cause....its just the internet after all.
i really liked the last thread at col scotts blog, who woulda thunk he'd be the voice of reason?
but hes right.theres some smart folks on these blogs and we could get past all the infighting we could probably get somewhere.
    end of rant

  12. and onto our main feature:
that movie looks pretty bad from the trailer.
i think oliver stone could do a good job with this story if he could refrain from making stuff up like he did in jfk.
i could see a 'wonderland' type of approach where you see the same events through the eyes of different people and you have to use your own judgement about who did what and what really happened

  13. Gentlemen...

    Katie is an alcoholic.

She suffered a few very difficult blows in her life, and unfortunately, she turned to alcohol.

    Alcoholism is a disease.
It's not funny... and there's nothing glamorous, about it.
Alcohol not only ruins people's health... it destroys their relationships.
Alcoholics burn bridges... and in the final analyisis... many of them end-up completely alone and isloated.

Because alcohol is legal and socially accepted, it's effects and dangers, are downplayed.
    But make no mistake:
Alcohol is a drug, like any other... and alcoholics are substance abusers, facing the same challenges, as other substance abusers.

    Gentlemen...
Katie would agree 100% with everything you're saying, during the day.
During the day, she "rolls with the punches" pretty good.
After drinking... reason, patience and judgement, go out the window.

Katie is a good egg and well-meaning.
    But alcoholism is a motherf#cker.

I've done everything I possibly can to help her, via the telephone and keyboard... which unfortunately, isn't a whole lot.
Katie needs to seek professional help for herself... and I mean that, in the most kind and compassionate manner.

Her problem, is not blogging... or bloggers.
(Although, I'll conceed... there is a tiny fraction of bloggers who can be exceedingly cruel to complete strangers).

I wish Katie the absolute best... but, there's little I can do, to help someone from across the country.

There will be changes to the blog set-up.
It may take a day or two, for me to research and decide the best approach.
I may just suspend the ability to post comments, after a certain hour.

    Problem is...
I have no idea how to "schedule" something like that automatically.
Which means... I'll have to do it manually.

Since my schedule changes daily... and this must be done manually (twice a day)... the "operating hours" of the blog, will vary daily (according to my personal schedule)... which kinda sucks.
The blog will probably be in full operation, from around 10am-10pm EST... give or take and hour or so, on either end.

  14. Lynard I am aware this is not about the topic but insofar as "feelings hurt" I mean someone tells me I dont know how to speak spell type english Im not gonna loose any slept over it its the internet a blog full of strangers with made -up names if I quit every blog that someone bitched at me Id have thrown my pc by now I hope I didnt rock the boat of this blog I rarely come here usually got to Liz's so if I contributed to someone having an E-breakdown I'm sorry but from what I re-read just now of my posts I dont see anything that is um of such an extreme sensitive nature-thanks

  15. Get well, Katie. You drive me nuts sometimes but I do care what happens to you. Nobody's perfect. (hugs)

  16. Thanks Patty. It's sweet of you to say that.

    Thanks Matt & Leary! :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Matt...while I agree the Manson blogs attract some angry souls, I don't think it is exclusive. Try the Boston sports blogs if you want to see some vicious dialogue.
I forgot you are a JFK student. I used to be a regular over on those sites but got burnt out. Anything new happening?
Lynyrd, I worked as a substance abuse counselor up in Portland Maine for several years so I can relate to the vagaries and frustrations of wanting to help someone but just not being able to. Katie's got a good heart, all we can do is hope that the heart and desire to live healthy wins out. I'm gonna miss her.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Katie - I wish you the best and hope you don't stay gone long. Please just ignore the haters...they set you up because they know you have a good heart and will react. I didn't read what was posted but - you know - that if anyone regular here felt you were being disrespected...we would defend you.

But it is not worth your time or energy to respond to negativity.

"What we focus on, we empower and enlarge. Good multiplies when focused upon. Negativity multiplies when focused upon. The choice is ours: Which do we want more of?" - Julia Cameron

  19. Thanks Mary. You've been a good friend to me on this blog.

A lot of people have told me to ignore, ignore, ignore. And they're absolutely right.

I just need to take a little time off blogging to find out why I can't ignore, and start learning how to ignore.

I'm one of those "all or nothing" kind of people. This blog has always been very important to me. But I need to learn how to participate without getting so involved. It's just something that I know I need to work on....

  20. Katie,

I'm so sorry you're up against this...you owe no one an explanation. Please don't be too hard on yourself...you've been deliberately baited...several times recently.

You never let anyone stand alone. Ever. And you intuitively know when someone is misunderstood or hurt...i know i've personally appreciated your support, many times.

Time and time again, you give far more than you get...and you get a whole lot of grief because you're brave enough to speak your mind.

Please don't stay away, i will miss you too much and will not post here if you're not looking out as you always have...

  21. Never heard of the word ‘solipsism’ and had to look it up….egoist; self absorption.

St. Circumstance and Katie...seriously? From what I’ve seen, St. C and Katie value their friends (and others) on the blogs…they are generous and nurturing…more than most. St. C is complimentary and supportive…with his happy, hilariously self deprecating, caring attitude. I will always miss his energy on the blogs…if he stays away.

Katie takes a lot of flak because she’s smart and fiery, and brave…she’s not afraid to speak up. From what I've read, she’s also sensitive and recognizes sensitivity in others…I don’t think I’ve ever seen her let someone stand alone here…even people that have been snotty to her in the past, and she's not the least bit vengeful. Doesn't keep score.

I’m sorry you’re hurt, Katie, and I’m sorry you’ve been compared to possessing self focus, or a self absorbed egoist...whatever. Nonsense!

  22. Marliese thank you so much for your kind words. That means a whole lot to me.

One thing I'm 100% sure of is that I want anyone who wants to come on this blog to feel welcome and appreciated. And if my behavior is interfering with anyone's blog enjoyment, then I need to re-think my words and actions.....

I'll be back. I think everyone can use a break from me anyway. LOL.

BTW, there was a write-up in the paper today about Marilyn Monroe's death 50 years ago, and one of the pictures of her was the one you have as an avatar in that big hat. My first thought was: "There's Marliese!"

    ReplyDelete
  23. Bobby!! S-M-O-O-C-H back at cha!

    LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love that photo of Marilyn.

Personally, i don't think she killed herself...i think she was murdered, and think there was a massive cover up...all the way downtown.

In a 1980's interview, that housekeeper of hers said "why do i have to keep covering this up?" ....

    Many other questions too.

I don't think you interfere with anyone's enjoyment of the blog Katie. If you do, then that would be their problem.
There is more of your heart in this blog than people realize.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Marliese I don't think she killed herself either. I don't know if this is something you'd be interested in, but the National Enquirer (yes I buy it and read it LOL) is dedicating an issue to Marilyn that's out now I believe. It goes into lots of detail about her early life and last years.

Mary you might want to get that too. Should be interesting! :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks Leary, Mary, Marliese, and Bob.

Katie and Saint C, can be a bit self-absorbed at times... but, they're also two of the most generous folks towards others.
They both take a genuine interest in others... and have an "empathy sixth sense". LOL
They somehow know, when someone needs support or a kind word, with spot-on accuracy... and they deliver.
They both have a lot of heart... and a big heart, at that.

I like Saint, because he wears his heart on his sleeve, and he's a "regular guy"... a "real person".
If he's happy, you know it... and if he's pissed, you know it.
He's direct... a real person, with a real personality.
    It's refreshing.

As for Katie... loyalty, is her best quality.
She's loyal to her friends, to a fault.
You just can't take that away from her.

    As I always say:
Katie's tough initially, but if she takes a shine to ya... you've got a friend for life.
She'll stick by you, through the bowels of hell. LOL
That's a commendable quality... and one we don't see too often, in this crazy world.
For all her faults... she's loyal, you gotta give her that...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thanks Lynyrd. I appreciate that. :)

Sorry we scrapped and I miss St. Circumstance.....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Katie - if you ever need to talk...Lynyrd has my email. Keep in touch and be well.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Damn.
I never meant for the word solipsism to be interpreted as self-absorbed. In my lingo the street use of it is self-focused, which may sound like the same thing but really isn't. I would never ever insinuate, Marliese, that either the Saint or Katie were egotists of self-absorbed. Just that they do infuse allot of personal info and emotions into their posts from time to time and that sadly translates into them being a target for whoever is frustrated or angry at the time.
I was simply offerering the thought that to much personal info on a blog is bound to get one attacked from time to time.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Don't sweat it Leary.

    You ROCK!

    We love ya Bro!

    (I know, what you meant)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Leary, i didn't know what you meant, and looked it up. And what i found was "the theory that only the self exists, or can be proved to exist. Extreme preoccupation with and indulgence of one's feelings and desires; egoistic self absorption."

So obviously I was a little stunned that the word would be applied in any way whatsoever toward Katie and St. C considering their loyal generosity to others on the blogs.

I'm trying to understand what you meant, and appreciate your explanation...

    ReplyDelete
  32. katie i'm sending good thoughts you way. please if you can try to stop drinking do. i have someone in my life who is not going to make it to her 50th. birthday because of alcohol and cigarettes. actually, she won't see 49 either, she's a week younger than i am, just turned 48.
there are many ways we punish ourselves for the hard things we go through in life. my family lost my eldest brother, at age 44, to natural causes. my mother has never recovered. she is 78 and is anorexic and gets the majority of her calories from alcohol. she weighs 94 pounds and is 5'2.
katie if you need to get help, do it, it will be worth it, even though it will be hard. do it for your kids if you can't do it for yourself.

  33. I've been a lurker for nearly a year...drawn out by Katie's troubles...I'm in recovery. Get help, sweetie. Life is wonderful clean & sober. Peace out, Reesie
