He said he spent a lot of time with his grandma in El Monte, not far from where I grew up....I remember some of the places he talked about...but that area too, was where he learned about the "wild things" in life...he found an old guitar or something in his grandma's attic...and learned to play it.
Could be less far-fetched than I originally thought...
Viewmasters have been very prevalent... and of VERY similar shape and design since 1939... made by Sawyer's Photo Services.
In 1966, Sawyer's was acquired by the General Aniline & Film (GAF) Corporation
"In late 1939, the View-Master was introduced at the New York World's Fair. It was intended as an alternative to the scenic postcard, and was originally sold at photography shops, stationery stores, and scenic-attraction gift shops. The main subjects of View-Master disks were Carlsbad Caverns and the Grand Canyon".
Evidently... There were tons of different viewmaster models made, which I'm not aware of...
Beausoleil was born in 1947.
So, that viewmaster disc would have certainly been made, before the 1966 GAF version, I'm familiar with...
It could be Bill Murray as it has early SNL overtones, but it is certainly Jody Foster in the Viewmaster commercial. She might actually be the hardest working person in entertainment.
OT, I know, but tonight Fox News is airing "Summer of Evil: The Manson Murders." It will be shown at 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. (mountain time). Hosted by Greta Van Susteren, I believe this is a rerun because I remember watching it last summer.
Maybe a person who needs their wobbly belief system reinforced....otherwise the difficult task of thinking for yourself." - TomG
Or someone who wants a different point of view from the usual liberal pap we're fed every day by other networks. And I think very well for myself, thank you. It's not as difficult as you seem to find it.
The woman mentioned a television program which is airing.
I don't get it?
Myself... I can't really comment on the merit of "Fox News" specifically, as I only watch about 1 hour of tv a week... and I only get about 5 channels.
Started what? As Lynyrd said, I mentioned a Manson special that will be airing on a certain network. If watching Fox gives you the vapors, don't watch it. If this is the show I think it is, it's very interesting and gives a lot of info on the relationship between Manson and Dennis Wilson. IF it's the same show I saw last year.
katie, I watched the show last night and it was a rerun from last year, but still interesting to watch a second time. At the end Greta's voiceover said that Manson was denied parole on 4/11/12 and the next time he will be eligible for parole is in 2027 when he is 92. I thought they got a couple of things wrong in the documentary. They said Sharon met Roman while filming "Eye of the Devil" and that's not true. They also said that Manson was introduced to Tex Watson through Dennis Wilson. Is that true? Jakobson's interview was the most interesting. He said Melcher was not as impressed with Manson's musical talents as Wilson was. He also said that Wilson left his home and moved to another home because he couldn't stand Charlie trashing the place, bringing more and more people there, and he (Wilson) having to pay all their medical (gonorrhea) bills. Jakobson never mentions that Wilson was afraid of Manson, which everyone else has said. They played "Cease to Exist" by Charlie and then the edited version "Cease to Resist" by the Beach Boys. Jakobson said Manson was furious that Wilson changed it. Debra was also interviewed but not for too long. (Her red hair is just beautiful, BTW.) She said Sharon was the love of Jay's life, but the minute Roman stepped in, he (Roman) became the love of Sharon's life. Interesting, because they immediately showed the clip of the BBQ party at Jay's house where he and Sharon kiss and after he walks off Sharon gives him this very winsome, soulful look.
Hi Carol. Thanks for letting us know what was on the program.
I was going to watch this last night but couldn't find it on Fox News' lineup. Maybe my channels are different than what's available where you are...I don't know.
Carol, according to Tex, he was driving around one day and picked up a hitchhiker who happened to be Dennis Wilson. Wilson invited him to his house, and that's when Tex met Manson for the first time.

Cute little cub scout!
It looks like that tie clasp thingy, is handmade from paper.
Surely one of the cub scout projects.
He IS a cute kid.
His hair looks lighter in his youth.
That's very common.

Is that a GAF Viewmaster disk?
And Steven Parent was from El Monte, but is totally irrelevant...
TJ was from La Puente, next to El Monte...the gun was supposedly stolen from the shooting range in El Monte...
Just goes to shows how small LA really was...
LOL
Actually... it does look like one of those viewmaster discs.

It's like that famous Cheech and Chong line:
"Hey, that IS a toothpick"!
: )
It seems little Bobby may have been cutting corners on his projects, even back then.
Chapter 3 in the Cubscout handbook...
"How to make a tie clasp, out of a GAF viewmaster disc". LOL
All the viewmaster discs I've seen, have squared edges on the actual picture frames.
The segments on Bobby's disc, seem clearly rounded to me.
But who knows...
WAY back then... they may have had different versions, than what I'm familiar with... i.e., round photos.
Maybe it was the cheap rip-off version.
The "D"AF Viewmaster! LOL
Or, maybe that was a special edition disc.
Chong:
"Sure looks real"! hahaha
Good observation...
Caption: "Most likely to grow up and kill a peace-loving Buddhist music teacher for no reason at all."
Wow...

Interesting stuff.

Okay, balls to the walls.
He looks like Eddie Munster.
Chew!!!! HA HA
That jerk-off can kiss my fucking ass.
High five....on the back side.....
Remember this commercial? I think it came on during My Mother The Car:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5QGd-0X3bg
Actually, I do remember that commercial!
Seriously...
Is there anyone who can actually go to YouTube... and get out of there, after watching just one video?
Those video suggestions in the sidebar, are a killer.
I went in there to watch a viewmaster commercial... I end up watching a guy remodeling his kitchen. LOL
Last week, I started with concert footage... I ended up touring Bermuda! LOL
Am I nuts, or is this a 16 year old Bill Murray in the back seat?

Life in the bubble.....Everything is swell....Jesus has me covered!
Sorry, Lynard. She started it.
Tom...
Did this start on another thread?

Fox News is a shill for the Republican party, basically.
Tom, don't dis Carol. She was only reporting a show on the telly. Which is her prerogative.
Chill bro.
I'm chilling sista.

Brian Davis at Starcity Radio, will be airing a very interesting segment tonight at 8pm EST.
Manson's lawyer (for his recent parole hearing) DeJon R Lewis will be interviewed.
Mary Brunner will also be featured.

The showed can be heard live at 8pm EST, here:

I'm not sure why Dennis was hitchhiking. Maybe that's because Clem wrecked his car. LOL.
Thanks, katie. Yeah, when I was watching the show last night I couldn't understand why Dennis Wilson would be hitchhiking, either.
