Jay Had His Mind On Something Else, Aug. 6, 1969...
by Katie and Venus
Katie Writes: A couple of days before the murders, evidently Jay Sebring was searching frantically for a girl he wanted to “spend the night with”. With Venus’ help, I think we’ve located the girl he was looking for. BTW, she was found by the police after the murders living with a movie producer named Jack Haley. I’m sure this is the son of Jack Haley, Sr. who played the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz.
The girl’s name is Liv Lindeland. From Wiki: "Liv Lindeland (born 7 December 1945, Norway) is a Norwegian model and actress. She was chosen as Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in January 1971 and as the Playmate of the Year for 1972. She became the first Playmate of the Month ever to show clearly visible pubic hair.[1]Her original pictorial was photographed by Alexas Urba. Lindeland was the daughter-in-law of actress-dancer Cyd Charisse".
Lindeland went into acting following her Playboy appearance, and then segued into a career as a talent agent. She again posed nude for Playboy in the December 1979 pictorial, "Playmates Forever!"
From Tate Second Homicide Report: http://www.scribd.com/doc/54241672/Tate-Second-Homicide-Investigation-Progress-Report
"On 9-3-69, investigators learned from an informant that a Mr. Robert Topaz had stated to her that he had seen one of the victims of these homicides the night of the occurrence. Investigators went to 9777 Wilshire Boulevard, suite 803, and interviewed Mr. Topaz. He stated he knew Jay Sebring and had last seen him on 8-6-69, at approximately 1830 hours. Sebring had gone to the Topaz home at 1471 Forest Knoll Drive, Los Angeles. He was attempting to contact a girl by the name of Liv Lindland. The girl had stayed with Topaz for several weeks and…..Sebring was now attempting to locate her. He was intent on spending the night with the girl. According to Topaz, he could not tell Sebring where the girl was, as she had left him several days earlier. Sebring left Topaz after the conversation with Topaz, investigators felt he was cooperative and honest". "On 9-4-69, Liv Lindland was interviewed at 1443 Devlin Drive, Los Angeles. She is presently staying with a movie producer by the name of Jack Haley. Miss Lindland state that she had been on a movie location for Paramount Studios near Corona from Monday, August 4, 1969, and returned to Los Angeles late Friday night, August 8, 1969. She stated that she had known Jay Sebring in the past but she had not seen him in the last few weeks. She first learned of the multiple murders while at the Jack Haley residence about 10:30 in the morning of August 9, 1969. Miss Lindland spoke frankly to the investigators and appeared to be sincere. She had no independent knowledge of the murders".

Nice thread! I've never seen this discussed before!
ReplyDeleteHi Kimchi!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see ya!
I agree... it's a cool thread.
Thanks Katie and Venus!
I'm especially thankful for the last photo. LOLOL
Keep'em coming ladies!
You Rock!
Hi Kimchi.
ReplyDeleteI had read about Jay frantically searching for the girl in the 2nd Tate Report a few years ago, and didn't give it much mind.
There is SOOO much to read in that report.
But recently I was reading through it again, and decided to investigate Sebring looking for this girl.
With Venus' wonderful help, we've identified the girl.
I found it interesting that Jay was searching for her on August 6th.
If you all will remember, a neighbor reported seeing Jay dash out of his driveway into the street in a big hurry in the late afternoon of August 8th. The neighbor said that Jay looked very angry, and that a sports car was following him closely.
I have to wonder if it had something to do with this girl, since he was so obsessed with her 2 days prior.
Yes, I had just re-read that part a few days ago...never dawned on me to look any further...and you guys found her mentioned in the
ReplyDelete2nd report...nice find!
I agree with our feline friend, that 2nd report is a "goldmine of info"...lol
Anyway, good reporting on your part!
Thanks Kimchi!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and Cats. I can think of 100's of threads to do with that 2nd report.
It's just hard to find the time and resources.
BTW, Game 7: It's now 5/2 - Cardinals over Rangers.
ReplyDeleteThe Rangers need to quit trying to hit it over the fence. A nice line drive right between 2nd & 3rd, or between 2nd & 1st. Low and fast. A scorcher!
Or stay in right field. That guy can't catch it.
I should be the coach. HA HA.
Off subject for a minute, when I was "young" I played a lot of softball.
ReplyDeleteI'm right handed, but I learned to bat left handed, so I was a switch hitter.
Most righties bat to left field. But when you switch hit you can hit either way, right, center or left.
So you can keep them guessing where you'll hit it. Helpful if you're 4th batter. Bring 'em in.
Anyway, back to the Manson Family. HA HA.
Miss Lindeland had a small forehead, which means that she should not part her hair in the middle, like was popular in the 60's, but rather pull it back or cut bangs, which you can start from mid-center of the head, which will make the face appear longer.
ReplyDeleteI know some hair-dressing techniques of my own. HA HA.
I know...you guys are saying "who cares about her forehead??"" LOL.
ReplyDeleteLet's be honest, Katie. Once the guys saw the word "nudity," that's probably as far as they got!
ReplyDeleteShe tried to have the typical hairdo of the era, but it really didn't work for her.
Yeah Venus, I'll bet dollars to doughnuts that the guys didn't even read the thread.
ReplyDeleteThey saw "Click Below to View Liv's January 1971 "Playmate" Photo... Warning Nudity." and that was that. HA HA.
This reminds me of the Playboy pictures I use to look at when I was 15. No comments please.
ReplyDeleteKatie talks about the Manson girls having an "endocrine condition"
Back in a day, alot of girls had an Ardennes Forest growing down there.
I kind of liked those days.
Hi Bobby!! Good to see you!
ReplyDeleteYeah I didn't think the guys would be very interested in her hairstyle once they saw the "whole package".
At least the "collar matches the cuffs". LOL.
>>>Tom said: Back in a day, alot of girls had an Ardennes Forest growing down there.>>>
ReplyDeleteYou sound like J. T Walsh in Sling Blade. He "liked a big bush". HA HA.
Back then, the big eyebrows were in vogue as well.
But you probably don't care about eyebrows. LOL.
I'd really like to know why Jay was so adamant to see her that day. So adamant that he drove to Robert Topaz' house to find out where she was.
ReplyDeleteAnd who is Robert Topaz?
Boy this girl was man-hopping. And she had the legs to do it. HA HA.
I thought she was with Jack Haley Jr., or something, out in Corona? BTW, Corona Ca in 1969 was "no wheresville"...just dairies and it stunk...you held your nose when you drove through there, same as Chino...
ReplyDeleteHi Kimchi.
ReplyDeleteShe WAS with Jack Haley, Jr. I have no idea where.
But if she was in the styx, she might have been hiding. Not because of the murders, but because so many men were after her. HA HA.
Thanks, Venus and katie. Great post. This girl looks vaguely Sharon Tate-ish. BTW, wasn't Jack Haley, Jr. married to Liza Minnelli?
ReplyDeleteHi Carol!
ReplyDeleteYes Jack was married to Liza Minnelli for about 5 years in the 70's. :)
Carol, Liza and Jack became an item while filming the "That's Entertainment" film and got married soon after.
ReplyDeleteHi Venus!
ReplyDeleteThat is so ironic that Liza & Jack got together, as they each had a parent that was in The Wizard of Oz.
I remember they were in all of the magazines of the era and that was what was mentioned. "Dorothy's daughter and the Tin Man's son." They seemed to be pretty happy. I remember she wore a yellow pantsuit to get married again. I have no idea why I remember that, but I do.
ReplyDeleteThe Wizard of Oz was one of the greatest American movies ever made.

Hi Tom.
ReplyDeleteYes The Wizard of Oz was a timeless classic. I believe it came out the same year as Gone With The Wind, in 1939.
Great year for good movies!
Or should I say good year for great movies! LOL.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, they "aired" either "The Wizard of Oz", or "Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory" EVERY year following the Super Bowl... without fail.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes... I watched them every time.
I've gotta say, looking back... those are actually some scary friggin' movies for kids.
The shit that happens in Wonka's factory... and that Mr. Slugworth?!
(((SHIVERS)))
Even the opening scene with all the grandparents in bed is friggin' bizarre!!
... and those flying monkeys, and trees that come alive in the Wizard of Oz... and the f#ckin' witches castle?
Heck... the wizard himself was a damn FREAK... and he was the GOOD GUY!! LOL
No wonder our whole generation turned-out nuts! : )
What forehead problem? I didnt notice hahahhah
ReplyDelete@venus Jack Haley Jr. lived up at the top of Clark Street behind the Whisky I believe. It's been so long ago. The house was at the top on the left. We used to party there a lot in the late 70s. At Jack's funeral Nancy Sinatra spoke and she said that when she and Jack were together the newspapers dubbed them, The Tin Man's Son and the Thin Man's Daughter. Jack's wake was hosted by Nancy. I know why Jay was trying to get ahold of Liv, but I can't write it here. Liv married Tony Martin jr. who later became a total invalid, wheelchair bound and drooling. Liv was quite popular with the butler's at the Playboy Mansion. Oddly enough Jay and possibly Sharon and someone else and Connie Kreski were just leaving The Factory one night when the elevator arrived on the ground floor, the doors opened and Tony Martin jr was waiting to get in. Connie had a crush on him. He saw her and said "Hey Connie, leaving so early?" Why don't you stay and dance with me?" She hesitated and Jay said, "Go ahead. you never know you might never get another chance. The first time I heard this story I thought it was the night of the murders, but since everyone says they went to El Coyote (even though no one there remembers them,) it must have been a day or so before. Jack had parties every weekend.
ReplyDeleteJack Haley's house may have been on Devlin Drive. That name suddenly came to me.
