I read a while back that Doris Tate said she just stopped living after Sharon was murdered. She rarely left the house, rarely had contact with other people, she was so devastated by Sharon's murder.
It wasn't until she learned that the killers might get parole that she started living again, and she is a BIG reason why they'll never get out.
It must have been really hard for her to sit and breathe the same air as that scumbag. And he sits and strokes his chin and nods. Asshole.
It didin't show on this clip, but on a previous clip of his hearing, he went on and on and how his family had suffered, blah, blah, blah. Who cares??? It's all his fault.
I'm not sure of the "rules" of parole hearings, but I think the family member can speak to the felon, but the felon can't answer. And I also think they have as much time as they want.
I love it when Doris slammed her hand down on the papers and said "I'm not reading this". "When will my daughter get parole from her grave?"
You're right Lynyrd, Tex shouldn't even attend these hearings. He's just putting a hardship on the remaining family members to attend. If Sadie didn't get out with one leg and on her deathbed, he's not getting out. I guess he thinks God will pull some strings....good luck.
Charlie will never get out either. I think he just keeps kicking up the sand so he won't have to know that he was a "waste of sperm".
I remember Col Tate attended the trials and heard the girls laughing at the crucial parts about the butchery, but I don't think Doris attended.
Conversely, Doris attended the parole hearings, and Col Tate didn't.
Patty took up when Doris died, and then we have Debra.
BTW, for everyone who thinks Tex knew everyone, it's obvious he didn't.
I like how she stressed "chose"...that Tex CHOSE to commit the murders. That is the problem nowadays...too many people saying that criminals didn't know any better because of their home life or whatnot. BS!!!! Everyone has had adversity in their life...people choose to handle it or commit crimes and blame everyone...blame Charlie, blame drugs, blame my upbringing...BS...every single one of these people chose to do this...and then do it AT LEAST one more time. May they all rot in prison and give mercy to the family. Doris Tate - thank you for having the backbone to do what you did...you deserve peace.

------------------ it is easier to think that the victims somehow had something to do with their murder...but does it really matter?? how can anyone think anyone deserves to die this way? I am not even sure I wish this kind of terror on Tex, Sadie, Pat, or Leslie...well maybe just them:)
Just kidding...another way of shirking responsibility and placing the blame elsewhere...these people were terrorized and slaughtered...I don't care if these guys knew the killers or burned them in a drug deal or whatnot - they did not deserve to die the way they died. I can't even imagine what they went through.
Sharon had contacted her mother a week or so before the murders.
She confided to her mother that she was unhappy with Roman, he was having affairs, and she was unhappy living with Gibby & Voytek, she didn't like their lifestyles.
I'm not saying Sharon was a saint, but I am saying that with the impending birth of her child, she was going to clean her life up with this nonsense.
She told her mother that after the baby was born, she was going to divorce Roman. And she wanted away from Gibby & Voytek.
I will say that Gibby had already decided to be rid of Voytek after they moved out of Cielo Drive, which would be when the baby was born. She never got the chance.
I've said many times that maybe Roman was involved in the murders. He knew Sharon was going to divorce him, and he didn't want to be out all that money.
He was working on Day of the Dolphin and it wasn't going well.
That's my opinion.
But I'm sure that years later, Doris gave Roman both barrels about his molestation of Samantha Geimer.
>>>Mary said: it is easier to think that the victims somehow had something to do with their murder>>>
It is easier to think that, because without it, it makes no sense at all. But Mary, I do know, in my heart of hearts, that they didn't.

Mary I know they didn't know each other.
In all the trial transcripts, the girls always said they didn't know the victims.
I'm sure they didn't.
When Tex kicked Voytek awake, Voytek said "who are you?"
If you knew someone, would you say that?
I think you would say "why did you do that? Why are you here?"
I'm really of the admonition that the killers didn't know anyone at Cielo Drive, or anyone at Waverly Drive.
They were on strict orders to just kill.
And for someone to kill someone so viciously and not even know them, like Doris said, is unimaginable.
I'm not sure there's much I can add to all those words of wisdom, except to just agree.

My cousin died in a car wreck when I was 15. My cousin (20), was with his wife, and their best friend, in the car. All three perished.
My Aunt was never the same, and died at the young age of 60. To this day, I know she would have lived much older, if she never went through that. My cousin had a 1 year old daughter at the time of his death, and my aunt raised the girl.

Exactly. Drug-burn? You go and shoot just the folks who deserve it, with one or two bullets. You don't create a blood bath, involving women and un-born children. Regardless of the motive, there's no justification.

You know, it was so hard for her to do that, but after 7 years after Sharon's death, she finally came alive again.
Only to die of cancer.
And I really think the cancer came about from the 7 years of misery that let the cancer cells out.
I can't even imagine her pain.
I won't even try to imagine it.
Well Tex, I hope you're happy. You killed Sharon, Doris & Patti.

One day Doris is anticipating the impending birth of her first grandchild, and the next, she's burying her daughter and her grandchild.
I can't even imagine how that must feel.
A daughter that was so beautiful and showed so much promise. A grandchild she never knew.
I can't imagine how she felt.
She got thru the funeral on "automatic" and when the dust settled, she collapsed.
I do know that it knocked the wind out of her for about 7 years.
You know if Tex was really sorry, he should have told Doris that in some way, a letter, a phone call, something. But he never did.
So much for Rev. Tex.
He was, and always will be, all about him.
He's not rehabilitated. He took another course. Religion. That doesn't absolve him of what he did.
